Situated in Uttar Pradesh, IIIT Lucknow is one of the 20 institutions established by the Central Government in a unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Opening its doors in the academic year 2015-16, IIIT Lucknow started its journey with a batch of 50 students for the B.Tech in Information Technology course. IIIT Lucknow operates under the mentorship of IIIT Allahabad and the establishment of the institute has been a combined effort, with financial contributions coming from the Ministry of Education (MoE), the Government of India, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and UP. IIIT Lucknow currently has a student body of 586, offering a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These include B.Tech, P.G. Diploma, M.Tech, MBA, and PhD, with a primary focus on computer science, information technology, and management. For IIIT Lucknow courses like B.Tech, candidates who qualify in JEE Main, then participate in JoSAA counselling and seat allocations for admissions. For postgraduate programmes, centralised counselling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan (CCMT) is conducted.

Library: The central library of IIIT Lucknow has over 58,000 books across various disciplines, more than 2,500 CDs and video cassettes, and over 50 daily newspapers, magazines, and newsletters. It also has access to a large number of online e-journals and databases. The library can accommodate up to 100 students at a time.

Hostels: IIIT Lucknow provides hostels with air-conditioned mess and common room facilities. An experienced caretaker is available round the clock for any emergency situation. Recreational facilities such as basketball and badminton courts, table tennis, and a gymnasium are available in both hostels. Night canteens are also available within the hostel premises. The hostel for the male students has 1850 beds and is off-campus, while the female’s hostel has 500 beds and is on-campus.

Sports Complex: The sports complex includes facilities for badminton, basketball, football, swimming, tennis, squash, and an athletic track.

Clubs: There are approximately 18 active student-driven clubs at the institution. These include the programming club, Axios, and the cultural club. There are also other clubs like Crotonia, After Dark, Zephyr Estrella, Utkrsiht, and more. These clubs regularly organise intra-college competitions, both academic and cultural, and sessions that are open to all students of the institute.

Internships

As per the information shared by students, IIIT Lucknow does not offer many on-campus internships. There have been a few companies that have provided summer internships, but the majority, nearly 90%, are off-campus. Unfortunately, only a few of these off-campus internships  meet satisfactory standards.

Placements 

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Lucknow has a strong placement record, with a 100% placement percentage for the B.Tech course for the batches of 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23. The M.Tech course also has a high placement percentage of 90.62% for the 2021-22 batch and 100% for the 2020-21 batch. 

The IIIT Lucknow average salary packages have also been increasing. For the B.Tech course, the average salary went up from INR 26.07 LPA in 2020-21 to INR 30.52 LPA in 2022-23. For the M.Tech course, the average salary increased from INR 17.05 LPA in 2020-21 to INR 18.2 LPA in 2021-22. For the B.Tech course, the IIIT Lucknow highest salary increased from INR 45 LPA in 2020-21 to INR 59 LPA in 2022-23. For the M.Tech course, the highest salary went up from INR 32.57 LPA in 2020-21 to INR 45 LPA in 2021-22.

Our Take: IIIT Lucknow could do better at providing on-campus internships, as most are off-campus and not all internship offers meet students' expectations. However, when it comes to job placements, the institute does really well. All B.Tech students and most M.Tech students from recent years have successfully been placed. Plus, the salaries for these jobs have been increasing, which shows that IIIT Lucknow is doing a good job preparing students for their careers.

IIIT Lucknow has a diverse mix of students. When it comes to gender, 40% of the students are female. This means that for every four male students, there is one female student in the B.Tech batches of 2020-2024 and 2021-2025. In the M.Tech in CS batch of 2022-2024, the ratio is even better, with one female student for every two male students.

The institute also has students from different parts of India. In fact, students come from 10 different states. This means students get to interact with peers from various backgrounds and cultures, making the learning experience more enriching.

The faculty at IIIT Lucknow is highly esteemed. They uphold the revered traditions of IIIT Allahabad, ensuring the delivery of top-quality education. The faculty is made up of well-qualified individuals, many of whom have earned their master's degrees and Ph.Ds. They have also studied at some of India's best institutions, including the IITs. Students at IIIT Lucknow highly appreciate their teachers, acknowledging their qualifications and the quality of education they provide. IIIT Lucknow is located in the Chak Ganjaria region, Mastemau, Lucknow. The institute is spread over a sprawling 50-acre campus and is situated only a few kilometres away from the international cricket stadium that is currently being established in the Gomti Nagar extension.. The institute is also surrounded by the IT City SEZ Lucknow, a 100-acre project by the HCL group. 

In terms of connectivity, IIIT Lucknow is conveniently located. It is 23 kilometres away from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, making it easily accessible for international and out-of-state students. The institute is also just 14 kilometres away from Charbagh Junction, the main railway station, facilitating an easy commute for students and staff. Additionally, it is 13 kilometres away from the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), a leading medical institute in the country. This strategic location makes IIIT Lucknow a well-connected educational institute.
