According to the MHRD's National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), NLUO obtained the 9th place overall among NLUs and the 14th place overall among all law schools and departments at central and state universities in India. From the academic year 2023–2024, it will be developing and introducing new BA (law) specialization degree programmes.In light of the National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020's recommendation that students take courses with numerous entry and exit points that are more specifically job-oriented courses, the National Law University of Odisha has launched the BA (Specialization) programme in 2022 in five specialized vocational streams related to law and the legal profession. The programme seeks to provide graduates with the skills needed for employment and career growth in the field of law. The courses have been created in compliance with the Sector Skill Council's guidelines under the National Skill Development Corporation while also taking the UGC requirements for the BA (law) degree programme into consideration. Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must fulfill all the prescribed eligibility requirements as laid down by the National Law University Odisha in order to apply for any of its BA (law) specialization courses. The eligibility criteria are mentioned below:
- Candidates who have passed class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized school board/ equivalent institution/ college will be eligible for admission to these courses offered by NLUO.
- There is no minimum age requirement to enroll in any of the BA (law) specialization programmes.
- Candidates must be citizens of India with a valid photo ID proof issued by the government authority.
The BA (Law) specialization programmes offered by the National Law University, Odisha has multiple exit and entry points which means that the total duration of any of the BA (Law) specialization programme is for a period of 3 years but candidates who exit the course after 1 year will receive a diploma certificate, candidates who exit the course after 2 years will receive an advanced diploma certificate and candidates who will study for complete 3 years fulfilling all the requirements of the course, will receive a 3-year BA (law) specialization degree recognized by the UGC.
Admission Process:
Candidates must note that the admission process will be strictly based on merit that will be calculated based on scores obtained in class 12th or an equivalent exam. The application process will be completely online for the BA (Law) specialization degree programmes. The finalization and selection of streams by candidates will be based on their preference and the aggregate marks/ percentage obtained by them in class 12th or equivalent examination.
The 10th class mark will be used as a tie breaker if the aggregate class 12th marks are equal. Candidates with higher scores in the tenth grade will be given precedence for admission to the course. Candidates must note that the online application for the BA (Law) specialization degree courses for the session 2023-24 will begin in the month of February 2023 and will end in April 2023. 3-year LLB (Hons.) Postgraduate Degree Course
India's first 5-year integrated BA LLB (Hons) curriculum was introduced by NLSIU in 1988. In the Academic Year 2022 - 2023, 60 students were admitted to the 3-year LLB (Hons.) full-time degree course. Eligibility Criteria:
Anyone with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited national or international university, in any discipline, is eligible to apply for the programme. Candidates for the General Category should have received minimum aggregate marks of 45%. Candidates who fall under the SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ PWD category must have earned a minimum aggregate marks of 40%.
Although applicants who are in the last year of their bachelor's degree are still able to apply, their final offer of admission will only be made if they successfully complete their degree with the required aggregate marks outlined above. The qualifying degree must be verified as having been earned by December 31, 2023, at the latest.
Duration:
The duration of NLSIU’s LLB (Hons.) degree programme is 3 years and it is a full-time degree course.
Admission Process:
An entrance exam at the national level will be required for admission. An interview plus a written portion make up the examination process. The National Law School Admission Test, also known as the NLSAT , is a written examination worth 150 marks, of which 65 marks are allotted for subjective questions and 75 marks are allocated to MCQs of the objective type. Ten marks will be given for the interview that will be conducted in the second round for all those candidates who will clear the NLSAT written examination.
The 3-year LLB (Hons) program's total intake capacity is 120 for the academic year 2023–2024. A few of the important points related to the NLSIU’s 3-year LLB (Hons.) course admission for the session 2023-24 are as follows:
- An application fee of Rs. 2500 must be paid at the time of online application form submission for the BA LLB (Hons.) programme. Candidates from the SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PWD, and EWS categories must pay Rs. 2000.

The duration of the full-time MA in legal studies degree course offered by Maulana Azad National Urdu University is 2 years.
Admission Process:
Admission to the MA in legal studies programme will take place on a merit basis. A merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained by candidates in their qualifying exams. Candidates whose name appears on the merit list will be able to take admission to the programme. Candidates must note that their qualifying exam result should have been declared before the last date of the application process for the MA in legal studies course. The National Law Institute University, Bhopal will offer a two-year Graduate Insolvency Programme (GIP) for young and bright minds who have the required qualification in relevant disciplines to become Insolvency Professionals (IP), and this has been approved by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI).After passing the Limited Insolvency Examination, a GIP graduate will be qualified for registration as IP. Otherwise, a person must have at least 10 years of experience as a CA, CS, Cost Accountant, and/ or Advocate or 15 years of management experience in order to register as an IP after passing the Limited Insolvency Examination. Therefore, a GIP graduate saves 10 or 15 years to become Insolvency Professionals.
The Graduate Insolvency Program is the first of its type and will be advantageous for students seeking to enter and advance in the insolvency profession both in India and overseas. The NLIU’s Graduate Insolvency Programme (GIP) lasts for 24 months and includes the following:
- A 12-month intensive residential classroom programme;
- A 12-month practical internship programme at the cutting edge of practice
For admission to the NLIU’s Graduate Insolvency Programme (GIP), candidates must note the following points mentioned below:

Entrance Test Pattern and Selection Process:
With regards to the NLIU-GPET 2022 exam pattern and selection procedure, candidates must note the following points mentioned below:- Multiple-choice and descriptive questions will both be included in the entrance exam.
- There will be two phases of the entrance test. A question paper including multiple-choice and descriptive questions will be given out during the first portion of the exam. The candidates that participated in the first phase will be invited for a group discussion and an individual interview during the second phase.
- Depending on the number of applications, the test center will be informed.
- Only English will be used to administer the entrance test.
- The time allotted for answering the questions on the paper cannot exceed 120 minutes.
- The NLIU GIPET 2022 exam will consist of two portions. 50 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each will be in Section-I. (four options with only one appropriate answer). There are two subjective-type questions in Section II, each worth 25 marks. Questions will be drawn from eight categories: knowledge of insolvency and bankruptcy, current events, general knowledge, aptitude for law and finance, logical reasoning, proficiency in general English, aptitude for math, and ethics.
- Both the group discussion and the individual interview will be worth 50 points each.
- A candidate who does not show up for phase I, the group discussion or the personal interview will not be included in the merit list for admission to GIP.
