NIST Berhampur Scholarships 2024

NIST Berhampur scholarships are offered to students with need and merit. Ward of alumni and staff can also avail of multiple scholarships offered by the NIST Berhampur. Below are all the scholarships available at NIST Berhampur for students who are eligible for it.

Merit Scholarship for B.Tech Based on JEE Main Rank

To be eligible for scholarships starting in the first year, the specified prerequisites need to be satisfied:

To be eligible for scholarships starting in the second year, the specified prerequisites need to be satisfied:

Clarification: For a C-1 student to maintain eligibility for the 100% TFW programme in the second year, they must pass all semesters in the first year without any backlogs and achieve a CGPA of 9 or higher. If the first-year CGPA is equal to or more than 8.5 and there are no backlogs in any semester, then 50% of the tuition price will be waived for the second year. The entry criteria will determine the maximum amount of the scholarship. C-2 or C-3 students, in any situation, cannot avail themselves of 100% TFW. Similarly, C-3 students cannot avail 50% of TFW.

To be eligible for scholarships starting next year, the specified prerequisites need to be satisfied:
Second Year CGPA >= 8, no backlogs in any semester 100% of tuition fee
Second Year CGPA >= 7.5, no backlogs in any semester 50% of tuition fee
Second Year CGPA >= 7, no backlogs in any semester30% of tuition fee
Clarification: If a student enters in C 9, but in the joining year he got a CGPA>=8 with no backlogs in any semester, then he is eligible for a 30% TFW for the next academic year. The entry criteria will determine the maximum amount of the scholarship.

M.Tech Scholarship: The institution will offer an additional Rs. 5,000 to students with a valid GATE score. These students will also receive government scholarships in accordance with AICTE norms.

MBA Scholarship 

  • 30% TFW for securing a mark >=80% or 8.5 CGPA in graduation. To avail of the scholarship in the second year, the student must have no backlog in any semester with a CGPA >=8.5. 
  • 20% TFW for securing a mark >=70% or 7.5 CGPA in graduation. To avail of the scholarship in the second year, the student must have no backlog in any semester with a CGPA >=8.5. 

MSc Scholarship:

  • 30% TFW for securing a mark >=80% or 8.5 CGPA in graduation. To avail of the scholarship in the second year, the student must have no backlog in any semester with a CGPA >=8.5. 
  • 20% TFW for securing a mark >=75% or 8.0 CGPA in graduation. To avail of the scholarship in the second year, the student must have no backlog in any semester with a CGPA >=8.0. 

PhD Merit Scholarship: Full-time PhD scholars will receive a monthly fellowship of Rs. 25,000 for a period of three years. Please note that these students will assist with lectures and lab sessions. Additionally, financial aid may be available from external funding agencies such as UGC, CSIR, NBHM, DST, DAE, and various industry sources.

Sibling Scholarship: Sibling scholarships are offered as a one-time benefit to immediate siblings of current students or alumni, providing an amount of Rs. 10,000.

Employee Immediate Relationship Scholarship: Spouses or children of permanent NIST employees are eligible for a 20% annual tuition fee waiver while enrolled in their studies. 

Research Assistantship: The institute offers scholarships to students for research purposes or to assist faculty with research. Up to five students from the 3rd or 4th year will be selected through a competitive process. Eligible students typically need a CGPA of 9.0 with no backlogs. Selected students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 3000 for three months.

Teaching Assistantship (TA): The Institute will fund scholarships for students to assist faculty with academic teaching activities, such as lab support and grading. Up to five students from each batch (3rd or 4th year) will be selected through a competitive process. Departments are eligible to receive a teaching assistant if at least 80% of seats are filled. Eligible students typically need a CGPA of 9.0 with no back papers. Selected students will receive a stipend of Rs. 3000 per month for five months.

Industry Collaboration Scholarship: The Industry Collaboration Scholarship is available to students involved in funded industry collaboration projects. Scholarships or awards are granted based on agreements made with the respective organisation, client, or industry partner.

NIST Berhampur Awards 

Best B.Tech. Project Award: Annually, the top B.Tech. projects in categories such as Software Development, Hardware Development, and Renewable Energy receive a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 per group/student (up to 5 teams).

Sankalp Function Award: Funded by faculty and staff contributions, this award encourages student bonding and is given to students selected by a jury during tech fest activities.

Manas Ranjan Sahu Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of our ex student Manas Ranjan Sahu which is awarded to a B.Tech Final year Student on the basis of Merit-cum-Means. The amount is Rs. 25000/- and the award is given annually at the beginning of the semester.

 This scholarship, in the memory of a former student of 2001 batch, is given to one student per year and the amount of Scholarship is Rs.15000/-.
