Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension
- The overall difficulty level of the VARC section was moderate.
- There were 16 Reading Comprehension questions in the VARC section out of which 2 passages ranged from easy to moderate in terms of difficulty and 12 RC questions could be attempted by the test-takers with high accuracy.
- No direct Grammar or Vocabulary questions were found.
- More careful reading was required for passages on Critique of Behavioral Economics and Revival of Bandicoots in Australia.
- No jumbled paragraph questions were found. The jumbled paragraphs were replaced by one additional paragraph completion question and one summary question.
- There were 3 questions each of Summary (MCQ) and Paragraph Completion(MCQ), and two Odd Sentence questions (TITA).
- 8 Verbal Ability questions were asked out of which 5 or 6 attempts with high accuracy were possible.
- To score around 85%ile score in VARC, candidates must attempt around 12 or 13 questions with an accuracy of approximately 60%.

The overall difficulty level of the DILR section ranged from moderate to high and it was relatively easier if compared with the DILR Section of Slot 1 of CAT 2023. Unlike last year, where there were a total of four sets, each comprising five questions, there were two sets with 5 questions in each and three sets with 4 questions in each in CAT 2024. To score around 85%ile score in DILR, candidates must attempt around 10 or 11 questions with an accuracy of approximately 80%. To score more than 95 percentile in DILR, candidates must attempt around 14 or 15 questions with an accuracy of approximately 85%.
