There are several NLUs and private institutions that offer admission on the basis of CLAT scores, but one should select a college by keeping in mind certain considerations, some of which are mentioned below:
- First and foremost, candidates must have knowledge about the courses offered, seat matrix and the expected cut off of the institution beforehand.
- Candidates must be aware of the college rankings and grades. Candidates must choose reputed institutions to build a great career for themselves.
- The next factor is the location and fees of the college. Institution chosen by the candidate must be in a safe and secure location with all the amenities nearby. The fees must also be in accordance to the average fees amount charged by similar colleges & universities.
- A very important factor that candidates must be clear with is the internship and placement statistics. Candidates must go through 2 to 3 years of placement record of their desired institution.
- The fourth determinant that one must consider is to know about the curriculum. The curriculum must be latest and in accordance with the educational system. One must also be aware that the teaching faculty hired by the institution teachers and professors must be well qualified and experienced.
- The last but not the least determinant is to be aware of the infrastructure of the college.

- All the candidates who will qualify CLAT will fill application forms of institutions where they have met the cut off. While filling the form candidates will be asked about law specialization preferred along with other personal and educational details. They will also need to upload the required documents. After paying the application fees, the application form will be submitted.
- If all goes well, the institution will offer a provisional admission to the candidate and will send him or her a counselling invitation.

- Under the counselling process, physical verification of documents will take place.
- Subsequent seat allotment lists are released till all the seats are filled. - Once candidates have received the final seat allotment letter, they have to report to the college for further admission formalities such as paying the college fees etc.
- If the candidate is not satisfied with the seats allocated to him or her in the very first round, he or she can sit in the subsequent rounds.
