The Government has released a notification outlining the application guidelines for OPSC Judicial Services Exam 2020. The Government of Odisha has also released the main exam date for OJSE written exam. The Last date to apply online was 18th December 2019.

The Government of Odisha has released the main written exam date for the Odisha Judicial Service Examination or OJSE. The exam is expected to be held from 6th October 2020 to 9th October 2020. The dates are subject to change as per the instructions and Government guidelines amid the coronavirus outbreak in the nation. Through the exam, candidates will be shortlisted for an interview round. The Prelims OJSE Examination was held on 2nd February 2020. The result for the same was released on 20th February 2020.

Odisha Judicial Service Examination is conducted to select students for the post of Civil Judges in Odisha Judicial Service. All the candidates who are interested in appearing for the examinations have to submit their online application forms on the official website, before the last date.

All applicants will need to go through three stages of the selection process, after meeting the minimum eligibility criteria, as mentioned by the Government. The first is the Preliminary Written Examination, followed by a Main Written Examination and then Interview. Candidates who qualify all the aforementioned stages will be finalised for the post of Civil Judges.

OPSC Judicial Service Exam Eligibility Criteria 2020

For all the candidates who are interested in taking attempting the Odisha Judicial Services exam, they will need to ensure that they meet the OPSC Judicial Services Exam eligibility criteria 2020. The eligibility criteria defined the Odisha Government states:

  • OPSC Judicial Services Exam 2020 Age Limit:

    • Candidates should lie between 23-35 years of age, as on 1st August st August 2019. Candidates will have to ensure that they are not born before 2nd August 1984 and after 1st August 1996.

    • Candidates belonging to the different reservation categories will receive relaxations in terms of the age restrictions.

    • SC/ST/SEBC and Women Candidates will receive 5 years of relaxation in terms of age restrictions.

    • PwD candidates will receive a 10-year relaxation in terms of age restrictions, as per the Government regulations.

    • Departmental candidates of the age of 39 and below will be eligible as well.

    • Candidates who lie in more than one category among the categories that have been mentioned above will be granted the most beneficial relaxations in terms of age restrictions.

  • OPSC Judicial Services Exam 2020 Academic Eligibility Criteria:

    • Candidates who have completed their graduation in Law from any University or Institution that is recognised by the Government.

    • A Superintendent, Ministerial Officer of High Court/Civil/Criminal Court, Assistant Law Officer/Translator of Law from a Government Department are eligible for the OPSC Judicial services exam. These Candidates will also need to ensure that they are of 39 years of age or younger.

    • Graduate of law from a recognised University/Institution who has an approved service in High Court/Civil Court/Criminal Court/Department of Law of 7 years or more, as on the last date of submission of the application form, i.e. 18th December 2019. These Candidates will also need to ensure that they are of 39 years of age as on 1st August 2019.

    • Candidates will need to submit a hard copy of the online application form. Candidates belonging to one of the categories mentioned above must also provide the required proof from a competent authority, proving the candidate meets the aforementioned eligibility criteria.

  • Candidates must be a citizen of India and must be fluent in reading, writing and understanding Odia language, equivalent to that of Middle English School standard.

OPSC Judicial Services Exam Application Process 2020

The candidates who are interested in appearing for the judicial services exam and have ensured that they meet the eligibility criteria for the exam must complete the OPSC Judicial Services Exam application process 2020. The application process for the judicial services exam under OPSC is as follows:

  • Interested Candidates will need to visit the official website of OPSC.

  • Before filling up the application form, candidates must go through the instruction manual provided on the website with regards to filling up the application form.

  • Candidates will be required to upload a scanned image of the most recent passport-size photograph. They will need to upload a scanned image of their (full) signature as well as the Left Thumb Impression in the OPSC online application form. Candidates must ensure that the image has been saved in .jpg format only while ensuring that the image is clearly visible. Failing to abide by these rules will lead to the rejection of the application form.

  • Candidates will be required to keep 2 copies of their latest passport-size photograph for future references.

  • Candidates must take a printout of the submitted online application form for future references along with the printout of the online challan (Pay-in Slip) to be paid at any branch of State Bank of India, for the preconditioned fee.

  • After the application form has been submitted, a Unique Registration will be displayed on the screen and on top of the Application form. Candidates will be required to note down the Unique Registration Number and save the hard copy of the application form for further references.

  • Prior to the preliminary written exam, the candidates will be required to submit the online application form, meanwhile, the printout or the hardcopy of the online submitted application form should be submitted along with the OPSC’s copy of the challan, to confirm the payment of the exam fee. The candidates will be required to submit the necessary documents proving the eligibility criteria as per the dates that will be notified by the Government at a later date.

Note: Candidates are advised to submit their online application form well in advance, to avoid any last-minute mishaps during the submission process. The Government of Odisha has also specified that any application forms that have been submitted in any other mode other than online mode will not be considered. All candidates will only be able to submit the application form on the official website of Odisha Public Service Commission.

OPSC Judicial Services Exam Application Fee 2020

All candidates will be required to pay the application form fee as per the guidelines outlined by the Government of Odisha. Relaxations have been provided by the Government for the SC, ST and PwD, whose permanent disability is not less than 40%. Here is the OJSE application form 2020.

OPSC Judicial Services Exam Admit Card 2020

The admit card for the OPSC Judicial Services Exam is released separately for prelims and mains exam. The admit card released for the eligible and successfully registered students only. Aspirants have to visit the official website of Odisha Public Service Commission to download the OPSC Judicial Services Exam admit card. Candidates are advised to frequently go through the online site as the confirmation letter of the interview round is also announced there.

OPSC Judicial Services Exam Pattern 2020

OPSC Judicial Services Exam is held in three different stages. Given below is an insight into the exam pattern of the OJSE.

Prelims Exam: For the prelims exam, a single paper is formulated for 100 marks. The exam needs to be wrapped up in a period of 1.5 hours. The questions are asked in MCQ format (Multiple Choice Questions) with each question comprising 1 mark. For every incorrectly attempted question, 0.25 marks are deducted. Candidates have to secure a minimum of 40% marks for the preliminary exam to qualify for the mains exam. SC/ST category students make it to the mains exam with a 35% marks.

Mains Exam: The main written exam, has 3 optional and 2 mandatory papers. Each compulsory subject carries 150 marks and have to be completed within a time frame of 2.5 hours. Each of the optional subjects is of 150 marks and 3 hours duration. Unreserved category students have to obtain over 45% mark and SC/ST category aspirants have to secure over 33% marks for each paper to qualify for the interview round.

Interview: The weightage of the interview is 100 marks. In order to make it to the merit list, aspirants have to secure a minimum of 40% marks.

Interview: The questions that may be asked in the interview are from National and International issues and matters of common interest in the field of Science and Arts.

OPSC Judicial Services Exam Result 2020

 Odisha Public Service Commission announces the result of the OPSC Judicial Services Exam. It is released after every stage of the exam (preliminary exam, main written exam and interview). Only those candidates qualify the OPSC Judicial Services Exam who clears all the three rounds of the test.
