SEED 2024: Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) is an aptitude test organized by Symbiosis International University for admission into B.Des programs at Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID), and Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture, and Design (SSPAD). SEED is a national-level exam held annually.

This year, the SEED 2024 exam took place on January 14 across 80 cities in India. Results were announced on January 24 by the exam body. From January 30 to February 5, 2024, candidates could book slots for the PRPI round. On April 18, 2024, Symbiosis Institute of Design released the SEED 2024 seat allotment and merit list. The merit list included the names of candidates offered admission, along with their ranks and scores. Admission to the B.Des program was based on SID's merit rank. Candidates on the merit list confirmed their seats by paying the acceptance fee between April 17 and 30, 2024.

SEED 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) announced the eligibility criteria for the SEED 2024 , which was crucial for admission to its B.Des program. Applicants needed to follow these guidelines closely to avoid disqualification at any stage of the admission process.

  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have completed Class 12 in any stream (Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.) or an equivalent qualification. Alternatively, those with a 10+3 diploma recognized by the State Board of Technical Education were eligible, provided they secured a minimum aggregate of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).
  • Conditional Eligibility: Students in the final stages of their 10+2 or 10+3 diploma programs were also eligible, on the condition that their final exam results were declared by June of the admission year.
  • Special Provision: Candidates who initially failed their Class 12 examination but cleared the compartmental examination in the same year on their first attempt were eligible for provisional admission at SID.

SEED 2024 Registration

The SEED application form 2024 link became available on August 26, 2023, on the official website at sid.edu.in. Candidates had until December 31, 2023, to complete their registration for the exam. They needed to fill out the application form and pay the required fee before the deadline. The registration fee was INR 2750, which included INR 1750 for SEED and INR 1000 for the institute. Payment could be made through Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card.

SEED 2024 Exam Pattern

SEED 2024 took place offline as a Pen & Paper-based Test (PBT) in 80 cities across India. The exam featured multiple-choice questions (MCQs). SEED 2024 Syllabus

SEED, the Design Aptitude Test, covers a range of topics that participants should be familiar with. Here's what was covered in this year’s SEED 2024 syllabus :

  • Visualization: Understanding and manipulating both simple and complex 2D & 3D geometric shapes, and interpreting spatial relationships through various forms of representation.
  • Observational, Perceptual, and Reasoning Abilities: Being able to interpret objects and information beyond their surface details, making connections, and comparisons, forming opinions, drawing conclusions, and presenting observations systematically.
  • Creative and Problem-Solving Abilities: The capacity to visualize and connect images creatively, identify problems, and propose effective solutions.
  • Application of Basic Science and Mathematics Knowledge: Applying fundamental principles of science and mathematics, as learned up to the 10th standard, to everyday activities and objects, and recognizing their relevance.
  • Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment: General awareness of these subjects in both Indian and global contexts, including various topics, people, materials, tools, techniques, issues, influences, historical periods, and contemporary trends.

SEED 2024 Results

SID announced the results for SEED 2024 on January 24, 2024, via sid.edu.in. Candidates can access their SEED scorecards from the official website. Each candidate received a test-wise rank based on their performance in the Entrance Test. Additionally, the merit list for the SEED 2024 exam was published on April 18, 2024, on the official website.

SEED 2024 Counselling

The SEED 2024 first merit list was published on the official website following the announcement of results. To view their merit status, candidates needed to log in using their credentials, including ID and password. Those who qualified and appeared on the merit list were eligible to participate in the counselling process. The online registration and fee payment period began once the dates were confirmed by the authorities.

SEED 2024 Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and PI Round

The SEED 2024 written test results were used to select candidates for the Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) phase. Scheduled from April 16 to 21, 2024, the PRPI required shortlisted candidates to reserve their slots between January 30, 2024, and February 5, 2024. Following this, candidates were instructed to upload their portfolios and portfolio tasks starting from April 15, 2024. The PRPI itself was conducted online from April 16 to 21, 2024.

On May 2, 2024, the Symbiosis Institute of Design announced its first merit list for design admissions in July 2024 at SIU. SEED 2024 counselling comprised three phases:

  • A written exam
  • Portfolio review
  • Personal interview

Candidates needed to successfully pass through all these stages to be eligible for seat allotment. Seat allotment for SEED 2024 counselling occurred after completing all procedures, based on candidates' merit rankings.
