Overall: Government Dental College silchar, established in 2018 . It's a DCI certified college. And it is one of the pioneers college of entire Barak valley Assam. It's is situated in Gunghoor, chachar district. It is affiliated with Silchar Medical College and Hospital. It's is under SSHUS University Assam. It's offers 5 years BDS degree with one year compulsory internship. There are total 9 department in this college namely -1)Oral medicine and radiology 2) Prosthodontics crown and bridge 3)Oral maxillofacial surgery 4) pediatrics and preventive dentistry 5) Public health and dentistry 6)oral pathology and microbiology 7) conservative dentistry and endodontics 8) Periodontics and oral implantology 9) Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics Each department is specific and high educated facilities are present. Each department contains dental chairs , autoclave, instruments, etc.

Placement: Placement after BDS degree. There is a rural posting after four years of bds study and one year of internship in this college. And after that one year of rural services in any government public health centre under NHM Assam. After doing rural services then placement happens in any government hospital under NHM Assam.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure of each department is quite good. All instruments, dental chairs , autoclaves were present.There may be little shortage of pure water but the water which were provided were quite sufficient for doing practical works.

Faculty: There are many faculties in Government Dental College silchar. Top MDS faculties are present in this college from different places of India. They are highly educated and didicated. They are helpful for the students in doing practical works and in clinics. Approximately 60 to 70 faculties are present in this college.

Hostel: Hostel is quite good. All floor and rooms are having tiles floor. Each room canaccommodate 2 students. The mess due is 3000 . Which can be affordable. Water is available anytime. Electricity is available for 24*7 regularly. Two Hostels are there ,one for girls and another for boys. Maximum 200/300 can easily can stays in hostel. College Hospital is very near. So students can easily go and attend the classes.
