Anna University's Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) offer both 3 distance education courses and 1 online course. Both types of programs are approved by UGC-DEB and AICTE and span 2 years across 4 semesters.

Anna University Distance Education MBA, MCA, and MSc (Computer Science) are offered in ODL mode via cde.annauniv.edu, with weekend contact classes at 9 study centres across Tamil Nadu. Fees are uniform: INR 18,650 for Semester 1 and INR 12,500 per subsequent semester. MBA and MCA admissions require a valid DEET or TANCET score; MSc (CS) is merit-based with no entrance test for the distance education

While the Anna University online MBA is available at onlinecde.annauniv.edu. Live classes run Monday–Thursday, 6:30–8:40 PM IST. Anna University online course admissions intakes happen twice yearly (July/August and January/February) through the Online Entrance Exam (OEET) + Merit.

Anna University CDOE operates 9 study centres across Tamil Nadu, where weekend contact classes (Saturday-Sunday) and end-semester examinations are conducted. 

Each study centre has its own coordinator and faculty pool for the supported programmes. Contact classes typically run for 2-3 weekends per semester before the end-of-semester exam. Attendance of at least 50% in contact classes is mandatory for end-semester exam eligibility.

Distance programme candidates must select a study centre at the time of application. Change of study centre is permitted using the official Change of Study Centre form.

Anna University CDOE provides printed Self Instructional Material (SIM) books to all Distance programme students at the assigned study centre. Anna University declares semester exam results twice a year — once for the Odd Semester (exams held in November/December) and once for the Even Semester (exams held in April/May). Results are published on the official Controller of Examinations portal at coe1.annauniv.edu, usually within 30–45 days of exam completion.

The November/December 2025 Anna University Odd Semester results were declared on March 13, 2026, covering UG and PG programmes. Anna University Distance Education results for the August/September 2025 session were also published on March 9, 2026.

The April/May 2026 Anna University Even Semester exams are currently ongoing. Results are expected between June and July 2026 based on the previous year's patterns. The Academic and Assessment Schedule for April/May 2026 has already been published by the university.

Students must follow the steps mentioned belowed steps to check the Anna University Chennai result:

• Complete the CAPTCHA if prompted

The portal receives extremely high traffic on the result day. If the site is slow, try accessing it before 8 AM or after 10 PM. The result is also accessible through the Anna University mobile app, available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Anna University Grading System

Anna University follows a 10-point grading scale. Students must score a minimum of 40% in both internal assessment and the end-semester examination to pass each subject.

CGPA Calculation: CGPA is the cumulative credit-weighted average of all semester GPAs. Anna University uses the formula — Percentage = CGPA × 10 — for conversion purposes (e.g., CGPA of 8.2 = 82%). A CGPA above 8.5 is generally considered competitive for campus placements and postgraduate admissions.

What RA and WHRS Mean in Anna University Results

RA (Re-Appear): The student did not clear the minimum passing marks in that subject. They must reappear in the next available supplementary/arrear examination to clear the backlog. Arrear exams are conducted alongside the regular semester exams — students can clear backlogs without repeating the full year.

WHRS (Withheld Result): The result is administratively held. Common reasons include pending exam fees, incomplete internal assessment submissions, or document discrepancies. Students should contact their college exam cell with their Register Number to resolve this.

Anna University Revaluation Process

Students dissatisfied with their marks can request revaluation. The process works in two stages:

Step 1 — Photocopy First: Apply for a photocopy of your answer script through your college exam cell. Anna University Revaluation fee is approximately INR 300 per subject.

Step 2 — Revaluation Application: After reviewing the photocopy, if discrepancies are found, submit the revaluation application within the announced deadline. Revaluation is done by a senior faculty member not involved in the original evaluation.

Revaluation Result Timeline: Typically 2–4 weeks from the application deadline. If marks change after revaluation, the updated score is reflected in a revised marksheet, distributed through the college.

Anna University Distance Education Results

Anna University COE results are declared separately from regular results. The August/September 2025 Distance Education exam results — covering Distance MBA, Distance MCA, and Distance MSc (Computer Science) — were published on March 9, 2026. Important: The result available online is a provisional marksheet. The official consolidated marksheet and provisional certificate are issued by Anna University and distributed through respective affiliated colleges, typically within 4 weeks of result publication. For jobs or higher studies requiring official transcripts, collect the physical copy from your college exam cell.
