NIT Silchar Latest Updates
IIT Roorkee has released the GATE 2025 timetable on their official website (gate2025.iitr.ac.in). The exam will be held in two sessions over the weekends from February 1 to 16, 2025. The morning session will take place from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, while the afternoon session will be scheduled from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
IIT Roorkee has opened the facility to add a secondary GATE 2025 test paper. Registration for GATE 2025 is closed, but candidates can still add a paper.
About NIT Silchar
NIT Silchar will start the BTech admission from June 10, 2024, with JoSAA registration. JEE Main 2024 session 2 result has been released on April 24, 2024 by NTA. Candidates who appeared for the exam can download their scorecards online from jeemain.nta.ac.in. Qualifying candidates will be eligible for JoSAA seat allotment which will start in July 2024 tentatively.
Moreover, NIT Silchar NIRF Ranking 2023 has been released by the Ministry of Education. NIT Silchar has been ranked 40th in the engineering category and 83rd in the overall category by NIRF Rankings 2023. Also, NIT Silchar has been ranked 601–800 in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking 2023. NIT Silchar courses include undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various streams including engineering, science, humanities and 11 other departments. NIT Silchar was established in 1967 as a regional engineering college in Assam. In 2002, under the National Institutes of Technology Act, of 2007, it was upgraded to the National Institute of Technology status and was declared an Institute of National Importance. National Institute of Technology Silchar was the first to have a C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) in northeastern India. NIT Silchar courses include 200+ courses across 10 streams at the UG, PG, M.Phil, and PhD levels. NIT Silchar Application Process 2024
NIT Silchar application process generally starts in July with the release of the application form for the MBA programme. The selection criteria for different courses are different in the institute. The application process for the NIT Silchar is completely online. To complete the NIT application form, candidates need to follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Visit the official admission portal of the NIT Silchar.
- Select the programme and fill out the registration form with the required information, including educational details, personal details, and address.
- Upload the scanned signatures and colour photographs along with the NIT application form. To avoid any difficulty in the admission process, the university advises candidates to keep all the required documents handy, such as birth certificate, category certificate, last qualifying degree certificate, etc.
- Finally, submit the application form and pay the NIT application fees via any online payment method such as net banking, credit and debit cards, BHIM UPI, Paytm, etc. Candidates must keep the fee receipt as proof for further reference. If the confirmation page is not generated after completing the fee payment, the transaction is cancelled, and the deducted amount is refunded to the candidate's account. Then candidates have to make transactions again.
- Eligible candidates will be invited for the entrance exam (except for MBA). MBA aspirants have to enter their CAT score in the NIT application form 2023, and upon shortlisting, they will be directly called for group discussion and personal interviews. Admission is granted based on the candidate's performance in all of the selection rounds.
- JEE Mains is a computer-based test, which is mandatory to qualify to be eligible for admission. Upon qualifying for the examination, candidates are invited for viva voce by the NIT admission committee (the admission committee is different for different courses). The selection of candidates for NIT admission is based on their overall performance in the last qualifying examination, JEE marks, and Viva-voce marks.
- PhD aspirants are eligible only if they have qualified for national-level entrance examinations such as UGC/ CSIR NET (JRF), SET, GATE (with a valid score), or Teacher Research Fellowship.
NIT Silchar Placements
The placement at the NIT Silchar is the ultimate thing for which a student strives to get in his or her final year. The T and P (Training and Placement) cell of NIT Silchar acts as a facilitator for training and placement and works towards the overall development of the students. It works under the guidance of the Training and Placement Officer in consultation with FIC. It primarily works as a liaison between industry and Institute. T and P cell is well equipped with excellent infrastructure to support every stage of the NIT Silchar placement process.
