About VMOU
Vardhman Mahaveer Open University or VMOU is an open university in Kota, Rajasthan. Previously known as Kota Open University, it was established in 1987 to provide open learning education opportunities in Rajasthan. VMOU Kota is recognised by the Distance Education Bureau-University Grants Commission (DEB-UGC) and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). VMOU Kota is accredited with an A Grade by NAAC.
VMOU offers 23 undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and PhD courses in the fields of Arts, Science, Education, and Management, among others. Some of the popular courses include BA, BCA, BJ, B.Sc, MBA, MJ, and M.Lib.I.Sc, M.Sc, MA, and MSW. These VMOU courses are offered under 22 departments, 7 regional centres, and 5 schools. VMOU Kota Admission Process 2024
The process for VMOU Kota admission has been elaborated in the following steps:
- Apply Online: Go to the official website of VMOU (vmou.ac.in) and click on ‘First Year/Fresh. Then, click on ‘Apply Now’ and select ‘New User’.
- Complete Registration: Register with a valid contact number and email address, and verify the registration by entering the OTP received on the provided contact details.
- Choose Your Preferred Course: Choose your preferred course and complete the VMOU Kota application form with the required details.
- Upload Required Documents: Upload scanned copies of the photograph, signature, and necessary documents.
- Pay the Application Fee: To complete the application form, pay the VMOU application fee. Note that the application fee for B.Ed, MBA, and lateral entry courses must be paid through a challan in the name of Oriental Bank of Commerce.
- Register and Appear for Entrance Exams: If the course you are applying for requires an entrance test score for admission, apply for it. Then, appear and qualify for it to appear on the merit list.
- Appear for Personal Interview: The university may conduct a personal interview for some courses, such as PhD, MBA, MCA, B.Ed, etc.

For MBA course admission, VMOU or Vardhman Mahaveer Open University conducts its own entrance exam, the Management Entrance Test (MET). However, if you have a good score in CAT, MAT, CMAT, or similar national-level exams, you may not need the VMOU MBA entrance test. Also a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks from a recognized university is a must for MBA admission. The institute no longer offers MCA program (discontinued in July 2024).

Unfortunately, the PG Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) course at the VMOU Kota is no longer offered. The course was discontinued from the 2022 academic year. As per the official website of the university, the institute does not offer any PG Diploma courses. Similarly, the university has also discontinued the MCA program in July 2024. The total tuition fee for the MSc in Chemistry program at Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) in Kota is 53760 rupees. MSc Chemistry is a two years course and the students must have studied BSc Chemistry or BSc in Science with Cghemistry as a major subject at the graduate level to pursue MSc Chemistry.
