Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (UBKV) is a state university which was established by the West Bengal Act XX of 2000. It is the foremost agriculture university in the region of North Bengal. UBKV is recognised by the University Grant Commission (UGC) and accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The UBKV ranking was 43 among the top agricultural universities in India published by ICAR in 2020.
UBKV course list includes two undergraduate (UG), one postgraduate (PG) and one doctoral (PhD) programme offered under the Faculties of Agriculture, Horticulture and Technology. UBKV admission criteria for B.Tech in Agriculture is based on students' performance in WBJEE and JELET. Candidates are required to qualify for the UBKV cut off to be eligible for admission. UBKV eligibility criteria should be met for admission to B.Sc programmes and entrance tests are conducted for admission to PG and PhD courses. UBKV merit list is published after the completion of the entrance examination. Selected candidates can take part in the counselling process to confirm their admission.
The university has a placement cell that organises the UBKV placement process and trains students for it. Apart from this, the university provides various scholarships to UG, PG and PhD students. Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya offers four courses in the field of agriculture, horticulture and forestry. SSJV Puri courses are offered under three faculties and 13 departments at UG, PG and doctoral levels. UBKV UG courses list includes B.Sc in Agriculture and Horticulture and B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering. The duration of these courses is four years. Admission to the UBKV B.Tech programme is based on WBJEE and JELET and B.Sc admission is merit-based. M.Sc in Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry is offered under UBKV PG courses. The duration of this course is two years. The university conducts an entrance examination for admission to the UBKV M.Sc programme. The university also offers PhD programme under the faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture.

Admission at Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya for session 2023 will begin soon. UBKV admission dates will be released through official notification. The university accepts WBJEE and JELET for admission to the B.Tech programme. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has scheduled the WBJEE 2023 on April 30, 2023. UBKV B.Tech admission will be held through the counselling held by WBJEEB after declaring the results. UBKV UG admission to the B.Sc programme is based on merit. UBKV M.Sc admission is based on the candidate’s performance in the entrance exam conducted by the university and qualifying examinations. Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya has a dedicated campus counselling cum placement cell (CCPC) that looks after the process of UBKV placements. The main function of the UBKV placement cell is to train students for the placement process and provide ample opportunities in the field of agriculture. The cell is responsible for organising the UBKV placement process every year. The faculty members of the university and the student welfare council also look after the students’ personality development and interests regarding placements.
The UBKV placement process begins by registering the final-year students interested in participating in the placement drive. The cell then invites leading companies and previous recruiters to the placement drive. After confirmation from the recruiters, further steps like pre-placement talks, preparation of the list of job vacancies, interviews and group discussions takes place.
The UBKV placement report for 2022 is yet to be released by the university. As per the placement report for the academic year 2017-18, two students from the Faculty of Horticulture and Agriculture were shortlisted by the company. One student from M.Sc.(Ag) was placed in Axis bank. A total of three UG students from the Faculty of Technology were selected in the off-campus interview conducted by Sonalika International. Four UG students from the Faculty of Technology were placed in Ace Tractor Limited through off-campus interviews.
WBJEEB will release the UBKV cut off 2023 after conducting the WBJEE and JELET 2023.
Admission to the UBKV B.Tech programme is based on these entrance tests. Students are required to qualify for the UBKV B.Tech cutoff to be eligible for admission.
For other UG, PG and PhD programmes, the university releases merit lists based on the student's performance in admission tests and qualifying examinations. The UBKV merit list 2023 will be released after the completion of the admission process for the session. The merit list will contain the names of the selected students, roll number, total marks, marks scored and other information. The university will conduct the counselling process for the selected candidates after the release of the UBKV merit list.

For admission to Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV) UG course like B.Sc in Agriculture you do not need to have an Agricultural course in Class 12. According to the prescribed eligibility criteria, students are required to have achieved 60% aggregate marks in Class 12 with PCB. Moreover, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV) does not come under the CUET UG participating list. Therefore, there is no need to qualify for CUET UG. Students will be granted admission to B.Sc in Agriculture through a merit list.
