Hardly anyone would have missed the 63-acre advertisement campaign of Sharda University. “The world is here, where are you!” Indeed, Sharda University has a sprawling campus accommodating a diverse population from different regions of India and 95+ other countries. The students praise the exceptional infrastructure and facilities provided by the university, ragging-free atmosphere, liberal examination level and leniency in attendance. However, a 75% attendance requirement is a rule in books!
The location of Sharda University makes it a compelling choice among students to experience the metro city vibes. The university boasts of offering a wide range of courses and exposure to the students. Sharda University has 14 schools of study offering 130+ courses at various levels. B.Tech is one of the popular courses offered here.
The university has an impressive infrastructure but lacks in terms of providing quality education and high-paying job opportunities. After paying hefty fees, the low-standard curriculum pines the students. The university hardly provides any help regarding internships and the management is unsupportive to the students. Sharda University ensures campus safety, although students have encountered safety concerns off-campus.

Sharda University offers a curriculum designed to meet the academic requirements and industry standards. However, students claim it to be rather simple and lacking advanced depth. The university follows a ten-point broad-band grading system awarding SGPA and CGPA to students for their academic performance. Students find it too easy to clear university examinations and score good grades. The university does release an official course-wise curriculum encompassing lectures, assignments, class tests, quizzes, projects and case studies. Workshops and lectures are a part of Sharda University academia & adherence to the mandatory 75% attendance rule.
The university has a large student population and boasts of having 13,000+ students on campus, and catering to such a huge student population is tough. Perhaps, that’s why the students of Sharda University are not satisfied with the quality of education here. While the university has 900+ faculty, students say that a majority of faculty here lack technical know-how, which inevitably hampers their ability to teach as per industry demand. The disparity in the teacher-student ratio (roughly 6.9%) is too huge a gap.
Classroom: The university has centrally air-conditioned classrooms (heaven for students to deal with NCR’s weather). The classrooms are IT-enabled and can seat 60-200 students. An LCD projector, proper lighting and ventilation facilities are present in every classroom.
Library: Students are all praises of Sharda University libraries and its collection of books. The university has a central library and separate libraries in every school.
Hostel: The university offers two types of hostel rooms, AC and non-AC with up to triple sharing accommodation. There are 10 hostels at Sharda University 5-5 each for men and women students. Except for food and charges, students are happy with the hostel facilities.
The average annual hostel fee for AC rooms is:
Room Type |
Annual Fee in INR |
2 Seater Room without attached Toilet |
1,21,000 |
Single Seater Room |
1,26,000 |
Internet Connectivity: With 2.2 GBPS speed, Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the vast campus of Sharda University. As claimed by students, they can use the internet in any academic block smoothly.
Laboratories: Labs at Sharda University are equipped with modern and advanced equipment. There are major laboratories for medical, technology, IT and pharmacy.
Clubs and Events: More than 25 clubs at Sharda University conduct cultural, academic and sports activities. The clubs are run by the students only. Some tech fests like ‘Construto' and ‘Contrivance' are held and an annual cultural fest ‘Chorus’ is also conducted.
Hang-Out Areas/Cafes: Though Greater Noida is in the developing phase still many malls and cafes can be found in different sectors. Jagat Farm Market is the nearest hang-out area for the students of Sharda University. The university campus itself has leading cafes and restaurants. Multiple cafeterias can be found in the different blocks of the campus.

Infrastructure-wise, Sharda University offers the best and students seem to be satisfied with its facilities. Yes, the fees for hostels cross the average standard, but if students are happy (unlike in many colleges), then we guess the college is justified in charging as much. Paying INR 10,500 per month for an AC room with all meals provided, plus the perks of hostel life is not bad.
Internships:
Sharda University claims to offer international summer internships to students with a stipend of USD 250 for one to two months. Medical students at the university also get internship opportunities. However, not much is known about other disciplines, which can be an indication that internship options are sub-par / none at all for other disciplines.
Placements:
The placement percentage of Sharda University ranges between 65% to 100% on average. Most of the placements happen for B.Tech and MBA students. Students from other programmes have to remain satisfied with Rs 2-3 LPA in roles different from their area of study. The university might boast Rs 1 Crore highest package but the reality is different. As per ex-students, only 10% of the students get offers above Rs 8-10 LPA.

Internship options for non-BTech & non-MBA are abysmal. The university fails to showcase course-wise placement statistics for UG and PG courses other than BTech and MBA, which leads us to question other discipline’s status in the university. The average placement package is relatively lower.
Sharda University claims to be a global university with students from more than 95 countries. As per student reviews, the university is home to students from different cultures and sects. Students from Afghanistan, Gambia, Malaysia, Thailand, Latvia, Nepal and Congo are students of Sharda University. The university organises various fests and events showcasing cultural diversity.
Most of the students have claimed to love the diverse atmosphere of the university. Students form camaraderie and learn from each other. Also, the university takes care of the requirements of foreign students related to language, food and religion.
As per the self-study report 2022 published by Sharda University, it claims to have a male-to-female student ratio of 58:42 across disciplines. However, the numbers below state less enrollment of female students.

One can’t overlook the demographics of Sharda University showing a higher number of students from other states taking admissions. Also, economically backward students have been offered decent opportunities here.

Students have raised concerns about the faculty and management at Sharda University. The expertise level of the faculty doesn’t meet the expectations of the students. Young teachers with degrees from tier 2 and tier 3 colleges are in bulk as reported by the students. However, the senior faculty is professional and competent but they won’t drive students towards learning and growth.
Furthermore, some students have shed light on the weakness of the administration in addressing the academic needs of the students. It has been observed by them that the syllabus available on the official website of the university is not being followed. Additionally, complaints regarding non-responsiveness have been found for the Dean and the management in addressing queries of the students.
Not all is hunky-dory at Sharda University. The university mostly has less experienced faculty, who even though they might have the domain knowledge, may not be the best people to give an industry overview. Senior faculty and administration, including the Dean, are non-responsive to students' needs and queries.
Sharda University is located in Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, making it desirable for students to experience metropolitan city life. The campus is located in the Knowledge Park area which is a hub of educational institutions in Greater Noida. The city is connected with highways, railways, airways and metro stations.
While catering to a large student population, Sharda University impresses with its infrastructure and facilities. However, after paying heavy fees, students feel unsatisfied with the quality of education offered, faculty expertise and behaviour of the management. Sharda University fees range from INR 80,000 to INR 2,40,000 per year and the average package offered here is INR 5-6 LPA. Students must see the ROI before taking the final call.
The university readily admits students who do not perform well in qualifying or entrance examinations. It creates an atmosphere of less intelligent students who just want to get a degree. This lowers the competitiveness among students and reduces creativity and innovation. However, students enjoy the diversity here and learn from each other. Finally summarising the gamut of opinions, the world might be at Sharda University but the ‘world-class’ education and opportunities are missing!
