Kaizen is the Operations and Strategy Club of Indian Institute of Management, Indore. In the spirit of its name, the focus of the club is on continuous improvement of the participants with regards to their operations and strategy competence.
At one time, operations management was considered the backwater of management activities – a dirty, drab necessity. This view has changed in recent years, as more and more managers realize how operations can be a “beehive” of activity with major financial consequences for any organization. Club Kaizen aims to equip participants with a keen understanding of the nuances involved in these matters through its activities round the academic year.
The club’s forte is to regularly come up with innovative and enriching learning experiences like industrial visits, quizzes, computer based events, simulation games, guest lectures by experienced industry personnel. IIM Indore is strategically located right next to Pithampur Industrial Estate (Special Economic Zone), which is Asia’s second largest industrial hub with the likes of Mahindra, Larson & Tubro, Eicher Motors, Cummins, Force Motors .etc. having their manufacturing plants here. The club leverages this proximity to the ‘Detroit of India’ by conducting industrial visits for Hands-On learning of the concepts like Toyota production system, Supply Change Management, Operations Management .etc. To further strengthen the understanding and simultaneously build relationship with the industrial community, the club brings in live projects, wherein participants get their hands dirty whilst tackling the unique and interesting challenges faced by the industry houses.
Operations Club is being built with the objective of extrapolating students’ interests in Operations, Analytics and Supply Chain Management from class room sessions to real life business level scenarios. Operations Club, as a student body, aims to help students apply theoretical concepts to practical situations, through engaging interactions with industry leaders.
The Consulting Club aims to provide a platform for students to interact with academia and industry professionals to develop an understanding of the consulting domain. The club has three cornerstone activities:
Consulting club offers opportunities to students to work with the industry professionals on real business cases. This gives
the students a live exposure to the business problems.
The club conducts consulting related events and quizzes to help students hone their consulting acumen.
The club invites industry leaders to share their experiences and interact with the students.
In 2013-14 the Club continued to add depth to its core activities and innovated further by launching a new division. The inception of the Analytics division represents the foray of the club in the fast growing Analytics industry. The year also marked the launch of Analitique – a sponsored National Level Analytics Event.
With a keen focus on professional standard live projects, the club also organized several consulting events and released white papers. The national level consulting event, NeetiShastra, was concluded with resounding success in December that was organized in association with the partners of Consult Clinic, the SME Consulting division of the club.

DebSoc at IIM Indore was started primarily to bring people having passion for debating together with those who seek benefits from enhanced debating skills. The primary aim of the DebSoc is to stimulate people to take different perspectives on any topic and express it effectively to an audience thereby helping them to improve their speaking skills in professional life as well as personal life. But more importantly, it is to make public speaking an enjoyable pursuit for many people who are apprehensive about the same. In order to achieve these objectives DebSoc has a range of activities lined up throughout the year.
