IIT Mandi Campus Facilities - Hostel Fees, Infrastructure, Address

Located in Shivalik Range of the Himalayas, IIT Mandi has a 530-acre campus which has a wide range of state-of-the-art instructional facilities for the students. The campus has a central library with more than 10,000 books and over 2000 e-journals in the areas of engineering, science, and technology, etc. IIT Mandi also has internet and excellent audio-visual facilities etc. There are lecture halls and separate departmental classrooms with multimedia facilities for the smooth functioning of the classes. The conference hall has facilities that offer a venue for meetings, conferences, and other events. The laboratories for all courses are in good condition in and around the campus and seminars are conducted on regular basis  (via video-conferencing ) in order to make students aware of the developments taking place in the outside world.

IIT Mandi also promotes sports activities and organises various inter and intra sports activities for the students. Basketball, Cricket, Volleyball, Soccer, Hockey, Football, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis and Cycling are some of the few sports available. There are also student clubs, cultural society, science, and technology council to encourage student activities. For conducting placement procedure for the students, the IIT Mandi campus provides well-furnished rooms for interviews and group discussions, video conferencing facilities, fully computerized office, auditoriums to conduct pre-placement talks and tests etc. The campus of IIT Mandi is a fully residential complex for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. There are separate girls and boys hostels. Bakery, Canteen, and 2 cafeterias are the places for dining in the main campus. ATM facilities are also provided to the students and other amenities on the main campus include Gym, Aerobics and Yoga classes, etc.

Currently, there are eight hostels spread over the Mandi town (five) and the Kamand Campus (three). Each hostel is managed by a Warden, ably assisted by an Assistant Warden, faculty members, a caretaker and a dedicated team of support staff and guards. There are two Girls’s Hostels, Renuka in Mandi, and Chandrataal in Kamand. Five Boys’s Hostels, Beas Kund and Dashir in Mandi and Suvalsar Prashar, and Nako in Kamand. Students play an important role in the management of the hostels. They are represented by elected secretaries who help the Wardens in the day smooth running of the hostels. Messes catering to different hostels provide homely food. Common room is equipped with LCD TVs, table tennis facilities.

Technical club - Robotics + Electronics = Robotronics.This club works in the field of both robotics and electronics.In electronics domain, it works on analog and digital electronics helping in developing practical skills in building and designing circuits.On the other hand in robotics it provides everything that students need to build robots : workspace , tools, supplies, money and experienced people to answer questions and help with projects.Most of the projects are aimed at either solving day to day problems by means of smart machines or just building something incredibly awesome. This club also has a IEEE Chapter.

Technical club - An enthusiastic coder ? Here is the club for you.It is a club dedicated to programming related activities.It keeps you updated with all the programming related activities and competitions happening world-wide.It also organizes severak competitions and workshops to increase coding skills.The Association for Computing and Machinery(ACM) Chapter at IIT Mandi organizes various guest lectures and tutorials from time to time.

Energy Club - As a part of the technical council of IIT Mandi, this club plays a cruical role in the field of mechanical engineering. It focuses on developing green and effective energy methods.It organizes activities like arCAD, MechFest.This club was instrumental in setting up of SAE collegiate society at IIT Mandi.

Technical club - This club is aimed at making students familiar with Astronomy and Space related stuff.Currently club has 2 telescopes and one set of binoculars.One telescope is under construction.This club is quite active since its inception.

Technical club - Society of Automotive Engineers(SAE) is a collegiate chapter of SAE India that was established by the collective efforts of group of students with a strong urge to complement the theoretical knowledge imparted in classrooms, emphasizing on the practical aspects of engineering.

Entrepreneurship Club - E-Cell,IIT Mandi is a student run cell aimed at manifesting the latent entreprenurial spirt of young students.It hosts various workshops and sessions for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Music Club - The Music club of IIT Mandi was established with the aim of encouraging, practicing and performing various genres of music (classical, western, fusion etc.). Run by highly talented members and equipped with specialized musical instruments, the section is scripting success stories in all cultural events. The fun-filled practice sessions are an icing on the cake for members as they try to learn from the mistakes made in grabbing the subtleties of a song. The Music Club here at IIT Mandi has full range of required instruments and audio set-up including powerful feedback monitors, electric guitars, harmonium, speakers, 24 channel mixer etc.The music room is located at D-Block of Nako Hostel.

Drama Club - The seeds of this section were sown when one of the skits performed by some students in the institute's first year at IIT Roorkee became a hit. Within no time, they became one of the most active groups in the cultural council. Beginning with short skits, this group has matured to the point where they regularly put up hilarious yet sensible, full -fledged plays in both Hindi and English.

Photography Club - IIT Mandi has a dedicated club for photography and related activities. The photography club is more like a hobby group bringing together the Institute's enthusiastic photographers. With regular photography tours in the belts of Himalayas, students expose themselves to an exciting and sometimes adventurous experience. Apart from getting involved in mainstream photographic activities, the club also helps in designing and editing college literature like magazines, technical newsletters, flexes etc.

Debating Club - English Debating and Literary Society is a club under the Literary Society which aims at keeping the literary culture alive in the campus. It makes sure the year is brimmed with activities like quizzing, poetry writing, story writing, debates of varied formats, group discussions on any topic off our minds, JAMs and many more. Winners of these competitive events get accolade with prizes accordingly with the winning writers getting their entries published in the semester-wise students' magazine Vivan. The club members who perform exceptionally well during the year get a chance to represent the Literary Society of IIT Mandi in various college fests which include Rendezvous of IIT Delhi, Antaragini of IIT Kanpur and Oasis of BITS Pilani. With coming years we plan to supply an even richer and continuous supply of food for thought for the literary minds of our college and keep the Shakespeares and Frosts of the campus alive and prosperous.

NSS Club - NSS is a voluntary group of students working for the betterment of the community around them. They are the social workers of the institute striving for an improved society around them.

The NSS group of IIT Mandi comprises of three broad sections: The Health section conducts various campaigns right through the year, promoting the donation of blood and creating awareness about some commonly spread diseases by disseminating information throughout Mandi city. They educate the people about the various causes of common diseases and also highlight them with the means which can be undertaken to avoid them. One of the major achievements of the health section is the organisation of the blood donation camp. Students of the institute voluntarily take part in the program and donate their blood for the needy. In the last few programs an active participation from the city has also been seen with the local inhabitants stepping forward to donate their blood.

The Literacy section consists of a group of students devoted towards spreading education and literacy. They help the poor and the financially disabled by providing them free study materials and guiding them through their course structure. The students of the literacy section have conducted various seminars and awareness campaigns in the government schools of the city. They are promoting higher education in the city by spreading the knowledge of various competitive examinations like JEE, AIEEE, PMT etc. The literacy section conducts free classes for the students in our very own campus in the evening.

The Awareness section thrives to create awareness about all sorts of evils which are present in the society, be it the evils related to child labour, bad effects of smoking or even the cleanliness of the city. The students of the institute voluntarily take part in the activity and spread the message by publishing various pamphlets and hooking up banners right throughout the city. They along with the help of various faculty members organise various campaigns and programmes to make the people aware of all the ill-happenings going.
