Garden City University also known as GCU was established under the Karnataka State Act no. 47 of 2013. The university has been recognised by the University Grants Commission. The Governor of Karnataka signed the Garden City University Act on March 26, 2013, and it was published in the Karnataka Gazette on April 12, 2013. As a result, GCU, Bengaluru, has been added to the approved private universities in India by the University Grants Commission.
