To look after the placement of students, the college has a placement committee. IGIDR placement committee remains in touch with corporates and invites them to participate in the Placement drive. Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research placement drive is conducted for final year students. The college alumni are placed in reputed national and international companies. 

The IGIDR placement process usually starts with pre-placement talk followed by companies visiting the campus for hiring students. Companies participating in Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research conducts aptitude Tests, group discussions and personal interviews in order to hire students.

Along with placements, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research placement committee also provides summer internships to M.Sc students. Summer internships are offered to students who are in the first year of their M.Sc programme.
