Indian economy is growing and synchronizing itself along with the economy of the world. We always study that a particular group of company have acquired another group of company, or have invested in shares of another company, reason being their expansion, conversion of loss making entity into profit motive entity etc.
For getting conceptual clarity and practical exposure of procedures as well as legal framework Department of BBA organized a Guest lecture on Merger & Acquisition for the students of BBA and PGDM on 30th September 2016 at 10:30 am onwards. The resource person was CS Devesh Pandey, Corporate & Legal Advisor – Corplex Advisors law firm. The delivery of case based and one by one explanation not only benefitted the students for incorporating their knowledge in actual world, but it also benefitted the faculty members for their practical updation.
Mr. Pandey started the session by asking basic questions regarding M&A’s from the students to know their understanding of the concepts. He explained basic differences between Acquisition, Merger, Reverse Merger, share purchase etc. He discussed about M & A of companies, which have taken place recently. He visualized the cases of Tata who acquired Jaguar, Vodafone acquiring Hutch, Reliance and its group companies, and so many other cases. He started with the basics and go through with explanation of its legal process, approval of court and creditors, applicable governing law, finalization of books, taxation consequences etc.
The workshop on “Logic and Reasoning” was aimed at enhancing the skills of Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
The Guest speaker, Mr. Ramanuj Mishra, associated with Career Launcher, enlightened the students upon the need to sharpen and practice their aptitude skills. He is an alumnus of IIT, Kharagpur with 24th rank in GATE. Mr. Ramanuj stressed upon the need for students to acquire the requisite skill set to think ‘Out of the Box’ and develop a rational approach towards problem-solving.
During the course of Workshop, Mr. Ramanuj posed several logic based questions to the students to make them aware about the relevance of training their minds to think differently but constructively. The students actively participated in answering his queries. The budding Management students were given an excellent opportunity to understand the nuances of managerial skills, through various day to day living illustrations; they were made to realize the importance of developing a practical approach of sound decision making.
????Further, the students were given an open platform to pose their queries regarding future career prospects related to the type of quantitative aptitude based questions asked in the various prestigious competitive exams, such as GATE, GMAT, XAT, SNAP, Banking and SSC, to name a few. The students gained a knowledgeable perspective towards targeting these examinations with the right kind of preparation and training.
????
????The students were then engaged in solving an aptitude based question paper comprising four broad categories to analyze and test their respective knowledge and ability.
This workshop was significant in rendering a sense of encouragement amongst the students to wear a thinking cap, at all times. To go an extra mile and inculcate a deep sense of awareness with regard to broadening their thought processes and working hard in the direction of being smart thinkers with the ability of quickness in thought.
The aim of this activity was to enable the students to understand the concept of elasticity of demand and correlate the theory with the practical aspects of the subject. This helped the students to view the situation existing in the real markets more closely and understanding the impact of various factors affecting price as well as cross elasticity demand of products being sold in the market. The students undertook this project in teams and visited shops in places like Shipra Mall, Ansal Plaza, GIP Mall, Local markets in Indirapuram, Noida, Delhi and Ghaziabad. They worked on variety of products like shoes, readymade garments, watches, camping tents, hiking bottles etc
