Overall: need to improve boys hostel becouse we have very old hostel and hostel wall has damaged and door also and we have not found pure water and our washroom has broken
Placement: I can understand what are you going through - dilema, frustration, and what not. I will be very brief and honest in giving this review. It is based solely on my experience and what my friends have gone through. I have a bit of advice for the students currently in this college.(skip to the last of my post) I will consider myself fortunate if even one of you gets benefited. I have never been emotionally connected with this college. So, that will help me in giving the impartial review. Lets talk about positives first. Zero Tolerance in Ragging: I have never seen any junior being roughed up or humiliated because he/she is a fresher. Even if such cases come up, strict actions are taken. Average placements: I’m not sure what are your expectations but the category in which IEM belongs is worst. In such scene, if the average placement is around 4 lacs per annum that’s more than what I would expect. FEW dedicated faculties: They are the main reason why this college has still not crumbled. I would thank a few here Mainak Saha Sir, Subhendu Banerjee Sir, Sanghamitra Poddar ma’am,late BB Ghosh Sir, Panchali ma’am, SDB ma’am, Gurudas Sir, Arunava sir. If it would not have been them, may be I would have left engineering by 2nd year itself. More space for students(for CSE, ECE, IT students only): Management and Gurukul building is completely different from each other in terms of the ‘oxygen given to students’. Gurukul has certain degree of freedom for students which they can exploit for their own good like self study and preparation for competitive exams etc. Uniforms: I am not sure how many of us actually like it but I’ll put it in the positives as they do an important thing - make us look uniform. I cannot think of any more positives :D . I haven’t mentioned any seminar conferences for two reasons: 1. I haven’t attended any of such things. 2. Feedback that I got from the students who attended it wasn’t positive. Now it’s the turn for Negatives: Infrastructure: In the name of infrastructure, they have 3 buildings for students that too not in a single place. Management( for 1st year all streams, EE, EEE, and MBA students), Gurukul building (for CSE, ECE, IT), and one more building for BBA students. The worst part is the lab facilities: Practicals are performed in groups due to lack of working equipments and few of the faculties just enjoy their time/have lunch in the practical classes. This is a serious allegation but I can even name them. No sports field: All we have is a basketball court and badminton playing area which of course nobody play in. Just outside the building boundary, tobacco shops find their customers in the form of IEM faculty members and students as well. Placements: I am mentioning it once more because of a reason. There is no such thing as 100% placement. Not even IITs claim it forget this ‘2nd best private college in the East’. Mass recruiting companies are the backbone of the placement. If not them, 90%+ students won’t be placed. Faculties: I have mentioned a few leading by example faculties in the Positives section but trust me many other faculties are hired on low pay more profit to the college(except students). Most of such faculties actually spoil the confidence of the students. Few faculties even heckle students and make them feel secondary in terms of knowledge. Misleading assurances: When I was in the initial years of this college, faculties made us believe that participating in certain events/projects will make our way easier in the placement. Of course that wasn’t the case. It was just to raise the participation numbers which will be advertised in the newspapers. If you join any sci-fi workshops- be pro-active and make sure you try to learn as much as you can. Boasting without substance: College Principal would boast of IEM and even compare it with IITs every time. Either he has completely misjudged it or refusing to accept the truth. If you visit IEM’s website, you will see quite tempting ads like ‘Jewel of the East’, ‘3rd best college in West Bengal’, bla bla bla. I would just say: Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Most of these were said for IEM way back in 2009–10 when IEM was actually doing well. Unhealthy IEM hostels: Even if you join this college (my sympathy is with you), don’t opt for IEM hostels, they have filthy rooms and unhealthy foods being served. When you leave the hostel you will be made to wait for months before your security money is returned back. Joining IEM is completely your choice. I have just shared my own experiences. A message to the students in IEM: Look you are not in IITs but always remember only IITians don’t make headlines. You may blame this college for all the wrong that has happened to you so far but always remember that you are actually responsible for 99% of the things happened with you. Excuses can get you sympathy but not success. Most of the friends you see here in the college will have the tendency to ‘enjoy college life’. You should enjoy definitely but always remember they won’t be there if you ruin your future. I know many of us have joined Engineering colleges because our family wanted us to. These 4 years are best to actually realise your passion. What you always wanted to become. May be you were never interested in engineering, but that’s perfectly fine. Remember it’s never too late. Believe in yourself and your dreams. Make your parents proud and above all be a good human being.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is average as the equipment are there but some are not maintained . College has ample classrooms, laboratories, sport centre but very small and hostel for both girls and boys. Academics I am in Civil Engineering and my professors are really qualified and guide us throughout our course. The curriculum is updated based on MAKAUT syllabus. Yes, the job made me job ready. The syllabus is sometimes finished in rush. Placements 12% of my branch get placed in companies like Shyamsteel, RDC concrete. The quality of placement is not that good. The placement process is easy but not satisfying. The college is not that supportive for our department's placement.
Placement: : I am from the 2020 pass out batch. During our college days, Tata was the first company to conduct campus placements. Many other companies also visit our college for placements. Tata visited our college for placements and did the bulk recruitment.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college was moderate, but I heard that it is completely changed. Some labs are not equipped with advanced facilities. The library is good, but not enough copies are available for a single book. The library has a very good collection of books, journals, etc. Faculty: Faculty members in our college are good enough. Our HOD was one of the top faculty members of electronics subject. I felt like faculty members made much better subjects like C, Java, etc. They do not conduct many practical classes which made it difficult to understand the topics. Other: I am always interested and curious about electronics subject and electronics equipment from childhood, so I have chosen this course to gain knowledge about it.

Overall: Wow nice collage The word collage comes from the French word "coller" which means to stick together or to glue. The technique of making a picture collage is to take various colors, images, textures and even text from separate pieces and then merge them together to form an interesting new image.
