The Kalinga Institute of Management and Technology, which is abbreviated as KIMT, was established in the year 2006 in the capital of Odisha, Bhubaneswar. KIMT was formed under the aegis of Kalinga Improvement and Educational Trust and it one of the many successful institutions that have been started by the trust. The trust was permitted by the Department of Higher Education to open Kalinga Institute of Management and Technology in order to impart professional management education in the challenging fields of MFC (Master of Finance and Control), PMIR (Master in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations), and BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration). These above courses have received affiliation from the Utkal University.

The idea behind the establishment of the Kalinga Institute of Management and Technology was to create a centre of educational and professional excellence. KIMT has the vision of creating a pool of highly educated human resource who are equipped with the right skills and knowledge so that they can meet the ever-increasing demands of the corporate world.
