SNAP VS CAT

SNAP vs CAT: Which is Tougher?

SNAP vs CAT: The SNAP and CAT MBA admission examinations are two of the top MBA entrance exams in India. The CAT exam is generally considered more challenging and competitive than SNAP, as it is a widely recognized entrance exam for prestigious IIMs and other top B-schools. On the other hand, SNAP is conducted only for admission into colleges of Symbiosis International University and is considered less challenging than CAT. While comparing the SNAP and CAT exams, it is imperative to consider a multifaceted approach that goes beyond mere difficulty levels. The perceived challenge of these assessments is all the more apparent due to factors like test content, formats, difficulty levels, and specific strengths and weaknesses.

CAT has a sectional time limit that requires a candidate to complete each section within 40 minutes and he is directed to the next section as soon as the 40 minutes are over. However, there is no sectional time limit in SNAP and the candidates have the privilege to choose the sequence of questions to solve, as per their convenience. Additionally, only MCQs will be asked in the SNAP exam while both MCQs and non-MCQs will be asked in the CAT exam. CAT is primarily accepted by the IIMs where Class10 and 12 marks, Graduation marks, performance in WAT & PI, and weighted work experience will be considered in the selection process. However, only SNAP exam score, WAT, GE, and PI will be considered during the SNAP selection process.

Notably, candidates must obtain a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in their Bachelor's degree programme but no minimum percentage criterion has been mentioned for MAT. While CAT has a duration of 2 hours for 66 questions, MAT is held over a duration of 2.5 hours for 200 questions. CAT has a negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer while there is no negative marking in MAT.
