S.M. Patel Institute of Commerce Academic & Industry Collaborations
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has announced a formal partnership with S. M. Patel Institute of Commerce (SMPIC), to provide students an opportunity to study the most relevant international professional qualification for business. A Letter of Intent was signed on 16th October, 2014 by Dr.Ashwin Purohit, Principal SMPIC and Mr.Debasish Biswas, Country Head, CIMA in presence of Dr B.H.Joshi, Registrar, Gujarat Law Society.
Under this partnership, CIMA and SMPIC will launch a study centre at the SMPIC campus that will offer CIMA qualification to the students.
Dr. Ashwin Purohit, Principal, SMPIC, while addressing the gathering, said, “The world has become a ‘Global Village’ and the geographical boundaries have vanished in today’s time. In this context it is very important that the students and the teachers have an international exposure so that they can develop the competence to face the competition at global level. Such international academic collaborations would help in fulfilling this demand of the time.”

SM Patel Institute of Commerce offers two major courses in the field of commerce. B.Com (Hons.) is offered at the undergraduate level and M.Com is offered at the postgraduate level. B.Com is a three-year programme with 144 credits and M.Com is a two-year programme with 80 credit points.
