University of Calcutta PhD Eligibility Criteria
To enroll in the Ph.D. program at the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, candidates must have completed a Master's degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a relevant field from a recognized university. A relaxation of 5% is granted to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled candidates. Eligibility also includes clearing a Research Eligibility Test (RET) conducted by the university. Candidates with valid NET/JRF, SLET, GATE, or M.Phil. qualifications from the University of Calcutta or any recognized university are exempt from the RET but must appear for an interview to assess their research proposal and suitability for the program.
