Ravenshaw University Admission Process 2024

  • Ravenshaw University's undergraduate admission process for regular courses for the academic session 2022-23 will be through a centralised admission process under SAMS, Government of Odisha. 
  • Candidates seeking admission must submit an online application through SAMS or Ravenshaw University, depending on the course they want to pursue.
  • At the time of admission, all documents will be verified, and any incorrect data found will lead to changes in the applicant's rank or rejection of the application. Applicants must have a valid email ID before applying and keep scanned copies of necessary documents, including certificates and mark sheets of all qualifying examinations, before filling up the online application form.
  • For the Ravenshaw University admission process, the application fees for courses like BBA, BA B.Ed, and B.Sc B.Ed are Rs 500, excluding bank processing fees, and applicants must pay it at the time of registration. Application fees for the PhD programme is Rs 1500.
  • The online registration form will be tentatively available on the Ravenshaw University website from August 2023. Applicants must fill up all entries in the online portal before pressing the final submit button. 
  • Students are required to keep scanned copies of certificates, mark sheets, etc., ready and upload them as per the specification mentioned in the online portal.
  • After submitting the application online, candidates must take a printout of the application form, which they have to submit at the time of admission if selected.
  • Candidates desiring to apply for more than two different courses must apply separately. All communications regarding UG admissions for regular courses will be through the SAMS website.
  • After successful application, the university will release a merit list for admission to various courses. For UG and PG courses, the merit list will be prepared according to the previous qualifying exam. As for PhD courses, they will be based on the student’s performance in the RET exam. PhD students will also need to go through a personal interview round. 
  • Once selected, students need to pay the Ravenshaw University admission fee, collect their ID card, and report to the university as directed by the officials.

Ravenshaw University Placements

Ravenshaw University placement cell cooperates with potential industries and companies, provides guidance to students, and facilitates on-campus and off-campus placements. The Ravenshaw University career counselling cell nurtures students for personal development and career growth, regularly conducting career counselling, soft skill development sessions, and entrepreneurship guidance. The Ravenshaw University placement cell has also launched a lecture series, ICAN, to inspire students to pursue entrepreneurship and self-discovery.

Ravenshaw University Campus Facilities and Infrastructure

Hostel: Ravenshaw University offers hostel facilities for men and women. There are seven men's hostels and six women's hostels. Men's hostels are Dharmapada Hostel, East Hostel, Jagannath Chhatrabas, Lalitgiri Hostel, New Hostel, New PG Hostel, and West Hostel. Womens hostels are Bhargabi Hostel, Daya Hostel, Devi Hostel, Kathajodi Hostel, Mahanadi Hostel, and Parija Hostel.

Sports Facility: Ravenshaw University provides a plethora of sports facilities for its students, including equipment for over nine sports. The campus has indoor and outdoor fields for cricket, lawn tennis, table tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball, football, chess, athletics, and yoga. The international standard cricket wicket comes with a dressing room and gallery facility. Yoga sessions are conducted every morning from 6:30 am – 8:30 am for both students and staff members.

Career Counselling Cell: Ravenshaw University's "Career and Counselling Cell" was established with the support of the Odisha government's Higher Education Department. The focus of the cell is to aid in students' personal and career development by regularly conducting counselling and soft skills development sessions. The cell also encourages entrepreneurship and has launched the ICAN lecture series, featuring industry experts' talks. These talks are well-attended by both faculty members and students.

IAS Coaching: Ravenshaw University offers IAS coaching classes for candidates aspiring to take competitive examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Coaching is provided in subjects such as English, economics, mathematics, and more. The coaching is free of cost and held from 6 pm to 9 pm on all working days. The university also provides a pre-examination training centre for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates to prepare for competitive exams. The centre provides free hostel accommodation and a monthly stipend of Rs 250 to the trainees.

Dispensary: Ravenshaw University has a well-furnished dispensary that provides free medicines to students and staff. It operates from 10 am to 2 pm on Monday to Saturday.

Youth Red Cross - The Youth Red Cross at Ravenshaw University promotes humanitarian principles and values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, and health and care in the community. The programme encourages community service, disseminates Red Cross ideals, and provides technical support for youth programmes. Major activities include hospital services, blood banks, HIV/AIDS programmes, and relief operations.

National Service Scheme (NSS): Ravenshaw University offers the National Service Scheme (NSS) sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, to engage students in constructive social action, programmes, and democratic leadership skills. Various social activities are organised, and students can enrol as NSS volunteers through the university website.

NCC: Ravenshaw University offers NCC for boys and girls. Cadets attend parades, receive uniforms, refreshments, and washing allowances. Training includes field craft, weapon training, and firing. Cadets can attend advanced leadership and mountain courses. The NCC programme ends with certificate exams held in February. Cadets who have won multiple competitions will be able to visit the Republic Day camps.

GSCASH: Ravenshaw University set up a Gender Sensitization Committee Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH) in January 2013 to ensure the safety of women and youth on campus. This committee was previously known as the "Committee to prevent and investigate cases against sexual harassment and breaches of privacy" (CPICSHBP) since August 2010, which was initially established as a cell for the prevention of sexual harassment in 2006.

Film Society of Ravenshaw (FSR): Film Society of Ravenshaw (FSR) is a student-managed independent society at Ravenshaw University, committed to promoting cinema as an art and social force within the community. Ravenshaw University Scholarships

Ravenshaw University offers several scholarships to its students to support them financially in their studies. Ravenshaw University scholarships are available for students with merit and need. Students with disabilities can also apply for scholarships at Ravenshaw University. The university offers 21 types of scholarships. In addition to the scholarships, the university also provides easy bank loans. Students can get up to Rs. 7.5 lakhs if they study in India, and for foreign studies, students can get up to Rs 15 lakhs from the banks with the help of Ravenshaw University.   • National Scholarship: Students with an annual income of less than Rs 6,000 can apply for national scholarships. Postgraduate borders can receive Rs 300 per month, postgraduate day scholars can receive Rs 120 per month, undergraduate borders can receive Rs 120 per month, and undergraduate day scholars can receive Rs 90 per month. Selection is based on performance in class 12 and degree examinations.
  • PG Merit Scholarship: Postgraduate students who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in their last degree examination and taken admission in an approved PG course anywhere in India can apply for the PG Merit Scholarship. They can receive Rs 60 per month for a period of two years, and their parent's income should be less than Rs 24,000 per annum.
  • Senior Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship: Undergraduate students who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the class 12 examination and whose parents' income is below Rs 4,000 per annum can apply for this scholarship. They can receive Rs 50 per month for three years.
  • Post Matric Scholarship (For S.C./S.T. Students): SC and ST students of degree and postgraduate classes can apply for this scholarship. The scholarship is awarded by the T.R.W. Department, Govt. of Orissa, through the Sub-Collectors of respective Sub-Divisions. The amount of scholarship varies depending on the class and whether the student is a boarder or day scholar.
  • Scholarship To Teacher’s Sons/Daughters: Sons and daughters of primary and secondary school teachers who are studying in undergraduate and postgraduate classes can apply for this scholarship. They can receive Rs 60 per month, and their parent's income should be less than Rs 75,000 per annum.
  • Hindi Merit Scholarship: A student who has taken admission to the Degree courses with Hindi as a subject or in Post-Graduate Hindi Class can apply for this scholarship. They should belong to a non-Hindi-speaking area and can receive Rs 90 per month until the end of their studies.
  • Physically Handicapped Scholarship: Degree and postgraduate students who are physically handicapped, like deaf, dumb, blind, and whose extent of disability is 40% or above, can apply for this scholarship. Boarders can receive Rs 90 per month, and day scholars can receive Rs 60 per month. The student should be between 17 and 30 years of age and have secured at least 40% marks in the previous examination.
  • Scholarship To The Disables: Orthopaedically or physically handicapped students who have secured 50% marks in the last college/council/university examination can apply for this scholarship. They should have a disability of more than 40%, and the Chief District Medical Officer should have issued such a certificate. The candidate must meet the following criteria: no concurrent scholarship, an attendance rate of 75%, and no provision of free accommodation and meals elsewhere.
  • Assistance To The Disabled Students: Degree and postgraduate students suffering from chronic diseases like TB, Cancer, or injury can receive one-time assistance from the Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Orissa Branch through the Youth Red Cross (Y.R.C.) department.
