SJMSOM offers admissions to its MBA courses based on the performance in CAT examination and previous academic records. The detailed eligibility criteria and selection process for the SJMSOM 2020-2021 session has been given for a better understanding of the admission process.
SJMSOM offers this executive MBA programme in collaboration with Washington University, USA.
It is essential to understand that apart from the entrance exam score, selection for either of the programmes is done on the basis of a candidate’s academic performance in 10th Board exams, 12th Board exams, Graduation and work experience of the candidate.
After passing CAT examination, students should apply online for the SJMSOM online application portal for admissions in Executive MBA course. The students will have to input their contact details, biodata and previous academic records etc and then submit the application form. After submitting the application form, the candidate has to pay the application fees using the online payment methods.
SJMSOM’s two-phase selection process is given below:
Programme | Phase 1 | Phase 2 |
Executive MBA | Candidates in this round are selected on the basis of their application i.e. their performance in 10th, 12th board, graduation and the quality of their work experience. | The second phase of selection is Personal Interview (PI). Candidates who clear phase 1 will be called for PI round. |
During the selection procedure, each component is evaluated based on its weightage. SJMSOM has a predefined weightage for each of their components.
Components and their Weights:
Components | Weights |
CAT Score | 20% |
Writing Ability Test (WAT) | 10% |
Personal Interview | 34% |
Academic Profile | 23% |
Work Experience | 9% |
Extra-curricular Activities | 4% |
Total | 100% |
SJMSOM has determined formulas for evaluating the weights of different components of candidates belonging to various categories. The evaluation process for students whose results are in percentage is different whereas for those who have results in CGPA format is different.
Academic profile evaluation of General and OBC-NC Category Students:
Format of Marks | Range | 10th | 12th | Undergraduate |
Percentage | > 60 – 90 | = 5 x (A - 60) / 30 | = 8 x (B - 60) / 30 | = 10 x (C - 60) / 30 |
CGPA | > 6.5 – 9.5 | = 5 x (A – 6.5) / 3 | = 8 x (B – 6.5) / 3 | = 10 x (C – 6.5) / 3 |
Academic profile evaluation of SC and ST Category Students:
Format of Marks | Range | 10th | 12th | Undergraduate |
Percentage | > 55 – 85 | = 5 x (A - 55) / 30 | = 8 x (B - 55) / 30 | = 10 x (C - 55) / 30 |
CGPA | > 6.0 – 9.0 | = 5 x (A – 6.0) / 3 | = 8 x (B – 6.0) / 3 | = 10 x (C – 6.0) / 3 |
Here, A are the marks obtained in 10th Board Exam; B are the marks obtained in 12th Board Exam and C is the aggregate of undergraduate.
The students scoring most in the above-mentioned parameters will be included in the merit list which will be made as per the weightage. Students will then have to visit the institute for securing their admission by depositing the admission fees.
