Eligibility criteria for the Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) require candidates to hold a Master's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university. The minimum percentage required for admission may vary depending on the department, but generally, a score of at least 55% is expected. Additionally, applicants must qualify in the BHU Research Entrance Test (RET) conducted by the university or any other national-level entrance examination such as UGC-NET or GATE. Candidates who have already obtained an M.Phil. degree or have cleared the JRF examination conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR/ICMR/DBT are exempt from the RET.
