The Centre for Management Studies and Orissa Engineering College are the two different wings of the academic entity formed by the Nabajyoti Charitable Trust (NCT) in 1986.
Late Sri created the Trust. Kamini Kanta Patnaik and the Centre for Management Studies was started in 2001 after the Technical Institution received almost all the approvals and accreditations from the academic councils of India, such as the All-India Council of Technical Education.
Mrs Subhra Patnaik is currently the President Governing Body for the Centre of Management Studies and has helped tremendously uplift the standard of education on the campus.
Post-graduation: Students seeking admissions into the Master in Business administration course need to ensure they secure 50% in the graduation& 45% for SC/ST in any discipline from a recognised university in India while attempting CAT/MAT/XAT/OJEE and attaining a valid rank.
Under-graduation: For Engineering courses, the selection is made based on marks secured in the 10+2 examinations and the competitive exam attempted. A personal interview round is also part of the criterion depending on the student's profile. The selection criteria are not applicable for Management Quota seats.
The Centre for Management Studies and Orissa Engineering College has a separate Admission portal. Students can upload all the relevant documents and fill in the application form to secure hassle-free admissions. The best part of the portal is that it is available almost throughout the year, students do not have to rush at the last hour to apply and can initiate the process right after the board results or before if they have reasonable expectations.
The application process for the CMS-OEC is straightforward, wherein students need to make sure they meet the eligibility criteria for the course they are looking out for. Once done, they need to fill out the basic and simple application form after getting the board exam results and wait for further correspondence.
Students also need to fulfill the JEE or other competitive exam requirements and pay the fee to get the hall tickets before the exams. The results will be released in a couple of months, but they need not wait for the results and can apply for admissions already. As per the ranks, they can try out in counseling and see if they are eligible for a merit seat.
The Centre for Management Studies Orissa Engineering College offers three courses that are Master in Business Administration, Bachelor in Technology and Master in Technology.
Students need to attempt competitive exams such as the CAT/MAT/XAT/OJEE after graduation to secure admission into the MBA program. They also need to ensure they get at least 50% aggregate marks in the bachelor’s course.
Once the above is done, depending on the seat allocation, Management Quota seats and the student profile admissions into the various MBA specializations like IT, POM, Retail Management, HR, Marketing, Finance, etc., are done.
For the Bachelor's in a technology program, students need to secure a good percentage in the 10+2 examinations instead and attempt the JEE exam conducted during April every year. Depending on the student profile, a personal interaction round is conducted, and admissions are made if the eligibility criteria are met.
Master in Technology requires students to complete the Engineering course with a good percentage and preferably opt for the same domain in Master’s as their B. Tech course. Students can also choose different domains to have an interdisciplinary profile.
The eligibility criteria for the Engineering course are a secure 50% in the 10+2 examination and a valid rank in the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) held in April, the most critical competitive exam in all of India.
The eligibility criteria for admissions into the Master in Technology and Master in Business Administration is to get at least 50% in the undergraduate courses and have a valid rank in the competitive exams attempted, such as the CAT/MAT/XAT/GATE.
The M. Tech program also requires students to complete their engineering course, and admissions cannot be made based on a 3-year degree. MBA is the only choice for such student profiles. GATE is mandatory for admissions into the M. Tech course.
Notifications regarding the Academic Calendar and examinations are frequently sent to the students and posted on the Notice board on campus.

The admission dates for the competitive exams are as per the Government Guidelines and is usually conducted between mid-April till June.
The online application can be filled out right after the board examination results are released, and the early application preference is given to students who have applied first. The admission application portal is always available for students’ ease.
The application process for the CMS-OEC is straightforward but a lengthy little one. If students are stuck in any step, they are always advised to visit the campus and complete the process.
All the changes in the educational institutions need to be updated on the portal.
The last step is to update the place and Signature of the student and click the submit button to complete the application process successfully.
Counseling is the most popular way to attain admissions into well-established colleges and universities on a merit basis.
The guidelines provided by the Government does it. The dates are announced depending on the ranks in batches, and the initial ranks are the first to appear for counseling.
The remaining seats are filled in ascending order until all the seats are eventually allocated. Students need to make sure that they carry all the documents, originals and photocopies to the counseling centres. Once the allocation is done, they need to visit the campus with the allotment letter and finalize the admission by paying a portion of the fee.
