College of Engineering and Technology Bhubaneswar, a prominent government engineering college in the state of Orissa, is now known as Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTE). The college was established by the Government of Orissa in 1981 to meet the growing needs of skilled professionals in the technical sector of the country. Earlier, the college was a constituent part of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar.  Later, the college got the status of an autonomous college. CET Bhubaneswar is affiliated with the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, approved by AICTE and accredited by NAAC with an A grade.  

CET Bhubaneswar is one of the top educational institutes in the state on the basis of academic excellence, industry interface, personality development, and placements.  Odisha University of Technology and Research has bagged many awards and recognitions such as National Education Leadership Award. It has also received various grants;  the most significant one being the grants from the World Bank through MHRD, Govt. of India under TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) for improving the methods of teaching, learning, training, and employability processes. 

All CET Bhubaneswar courses are recognised by NBA. College of Engineering and Technology Bhubaneswar offers more than 40 courses under various programmes such as UG, PG, and PhD. CET Bhubaneswar UG and PG courses are designed and developed to provide an education in which there must be a balance of practical, theory and training. Admission to CET Bhubaneswar for UG and PG courses is based on merit. The selection in B.Tech courses is based on merit in class 12 and the JEE Main examination collectively. Admission to other courses is based on OJEE. 

CET Bhubaneswar has all facilities that provide a productive learning environment. The Odisha University of Technology and Research campus has hostels for boys and girls, labs for practical studies, a central computing facility of 128 computers with window LAN connectivity, an ATM and sports facilities. The library is the essential hub of the college, well-equipped to support and facilitate the teaching, learning and research programmes of the institute.

CET Bhubaneswar placements have shown an increasing trend in recent years in terms of placements of students in various national and international organisations. Some vibrant companies and organisations in which students have been placed successfully are TCS, TATA Steel, Tech Mahindra and Asian Paints. 

The college is located on the Techno-campus (100 acres) at Kalinga Nagar, Bhubaneswar. CET Bhubaneswar campus was shifted to the new Techno Campus in 2001. The hostel can accommodate 500 men and 500 women. Life at CET Bhubaneswar is not restricted only to studies. Still, students at CET enjoy their learning by celebrating various events and programmes such as Constitution Day, Fests, Inter-college completions, etc.
