At Government Engineering College, Kozhikode (GECK), the students are endowed with modern infra and convenient amenities
GECK has one ladies hostel with an intake of 150. Procedure for hostel admission is as per the institute norms. The students and other activities in the hostels are under the supervision of a warden.
All residents of college hostels to strictly obey the following rules
Rooms once allotted to the students will not be changed except on special situations.
Guests can be permitted only if the permission is obtained. Entertaining unauthorized guest will lead to severe punishment, including expulsion from the hostel.
Use of personal computer by a resident will be permitted only with prior permission of warden. PC should not be used for objectionable purpose.
The use of electrical appliance such as immersion heaters, electrical stove are forbidden. Private cooking is strictly forbidden.
Students should cooperate in carrying out maintenance works and should vacate rooms when the maintenance work is required.
The residents shall not move furniture from its allotted space.
All visitors to the hostel will have to make necessary entries in the visitor’s book.
The residents shall not paste any posters/ pictures etc. on the walls, windows, and shelves. The warden shall levy an amount proportional to the damage.
The Entrepreneurship Development Club (EDC) and a technology business incubation centre (TBI) functions in this institution. The EDC regularly organises programmes to promote the culture of entrepreneurship among students. About Rs. 6 lakhs was utilized to set up a new TBI in the Institution.
The entrepreneurial motivation is one of the most important factors which accelerate the pace of economic development by bringing the people to undertake risk bearing activities. The need of the hour, therefore, is to make Entrepreneurship Development more effective by imparting relevant education, focusing on developing entrepreneurial competencies, skills in identifying a viable business opportunity and preparing business plan, knowledge on how to mobilize resources and manage an enterprise.
Entrepreneurship Development club (EDC) is started functioning in this institution from 2006. The various activities of the club are:
A general convener, conveners from each department and two student volunteers from each department are the office bearers. EDC helps to develop a rapport with the industry. Necessary funds are received from District Industries Centre and Government agencies.
NSS being a socially oriented movement, its platform of activity is always the society. It cannot conduct a programme which is not related to society. Also it has to associate with many individuals, associations and institutions that render their services in this field.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of this collage is well maintained. We have enough buildings for the whole btech and mtech students. And also offices for faculties, other staffs. They have necessary labs and workshops. Also library, counselling facilities.
Hostel: Hostel facility of the college is not enough.It doesn't have a hostel fir boys either. Girls hostel vacancy was really short. But the hostel is good. It has good atmosphere there.
