For the Construction of the College building Sri I.S. Mallegowda, a prominent Coffee Planter of Chikmagalur had donated Rs.1,00,000. The Commerce program was Introduced in 1968, between 1972-1974, the Govt, of Karnataka added the Library the Ground floor and first Floor of the rear portion. After take over of the College from MES, the Govt, of Karnataka has administered the College on the same lines as other Govt. Colleges in the state. The College generally caters to the poor Rural and Urban Students offering under graduate degree Courses of 3 years duration in streams of Humanities, Languages, Commerce, Science and Management. Well-equipped laboratories provide excellent learning opportunities and develop an inquisitive mind, research attitude and scientific temper among all the students.
