We are delighted to announce the Chevening programme for 2005.
Chevening, as you may be aware, is the British Government's flagship
scholarship scheme, covering a whole range of subjects -human rights (M.A or L.L.M), social sciences (Masters -economics, politics, international relations, development studies, gender studies, psychology and sociology), new technology (M.Sc in pure and applied sciences or biotech and ICT), environmental management and sustainable development. There are also Open scholarships offering post-graduate qualifications in art, design, architecture, philosophy, literature, law and journalism.
Media -Dedicated 4-12 week courses for print journalists, broadcast journalists at centres of excellence such as the University of Westminster, Thomson Foundation and Wolf son College, University of Cambridge. There is also a separate scholarship offered by the University of Stirling for an M.Sc in Media Management.
The scheme is targeted primarily at age groups 25-35, but there are specific programmes that will interest others as well.
The British Chevening India programme is open to Indian nationals with a valid Indian passport. The age criteria for most programmes is 25 to 35 years as on 30 November 2004 with a few exceptional programmes
where upper age limit upto 40 and 48 years respectively is allowed. The scholarships are available to pursue further studies/professional development under the following schemes:
(1) ONE-YEAR MASTERS PROGRAMME at any UK university in any subject (except medicine and related subjects) including law, human rights, management, finance, accounting, arts and humanities, media studies, science and technology, social science, new technology.
(2) SHORT-TERM PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMME - for young, high-flying and dynamic working men and women from among print and broadcast journalists, corporate managers and executives, environmental managers. These
are tailor-made courses of up to three months duration at prestigious higher education institutions and appropriate attachments with relevant top industry houses in the UK.
