IIM Trichy Admission 2024 - Dates, Application Process & Eligibility

IIM Trichy selection criteria for the offered courses is the results of national entrance exams. GMAT or CAT scores are used to determine admission to MBA programmes. It is mandatory for candidates to appear and qualify in the CAT 2023  or have a valid GMAT score obtained in the exam after January 1, 2023. Admission to the PhD courses is determined by the performance of the candidates in the entrance exams like GMAT, CAT, GRE, GATE, IIMB Test or UGC-JRF. For the final selection process, candidates must additionally show up for a personal interview round for the offered courses and work experience also adds to the qualification.

For the year 2024, IIM Trichy will be using a new admissions procedure known as the Common Admission Process (CAP) for the PGPM or MBA courses. IIM Kashipur will oversee the online process, which will be carried out. Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview are the two components of the IIM Trichy CAP round; however, in the post-COVID scenario, only the Personal Interview portion of the CAP process is currently carried out. The result or list of the shortlisted candidates will be released by the authorities during the final week of January 2024. It is expected that the personal interviews for the IIM Trichy selection process will take place in February 2024.

How to crack IIM Trichy Interview?

According to the IIM Trichy interview experience shared by former applicants, there are several tips for MBA aspirants. An aspirant named Aaija Manoj shared her interview experience on the common media platform. She reached the institute campus and she was given an A4 size sheet to express her opinion on the topic “Weddings and restaurants have different varieties of food and most of the time a large amount goes waste. In a country like India, we cannot afford that. What are your thoughts about the same?" as part of the WAT process. She was given a time limit of 20 minutes and then submitted it. She then moved forward towards the PI process. 3 interviewers conducted the PI round. She was asked questions regarding her basic personal information, work experience and recent national as well as international events contemporary to that time. Some main pointers that we can take from her experience are -

• Be ready for everything and anything. the aspirant did not expected that there would be a written assignment on such an important topic for the interview process.
• Candidates must never lose confidence even if they are being counter-questioned by the interviewers.
• The candidates must listen to the questions, understand them and answer them as per their best understanding.
• The candidates must keep themselves updated with the recent happenings worldwide.

The IIM Trichy executive MBA course is the only course offered by the institute for which there is no requirement to appear or qualify in the CAT exam. IIM Trichy and other IIMs provide Executive MBA programmes without a CAT prerequisite if you have a job experience of almost 2 years (preferably). Nevertheless, these programmes frequently include GMAT or GRE requirements in addition to having strict work experience requirements. In order to be considered for admission as an MBA executive at IIM Trichy, a candidate must meet the requirements of the institute's written exam and personal interview, as well as have a valid GMAT or GRE score. The need for work experience for admission to this course is also important.

Is CAT mandatory to take admission in IIM Trichy?

CAT is not required to get admission to IIM Trichy. For admission to PGPM (MBA) and PGPM-HR (MBA-HR), IIM Trichy accepts CAT scores. The Executive MBA course by IIM Trichy does not require CAT scores; instead, admission is granted based on results from other entrance exams, such as GMAT, GRE, institute's written exam or others. 

Unfortunately, there is no way to get admission to IIM Trichy after class 12 as the institute offers only PG and PhD courses to the interested candidates. For admission to both the PGPM and PGPM - HR courses, candidates must require a minimum of 24 months of full-time work experience after graduation as of January 31st, 2024.

How Can I Join IIM Trichy after 12th?

There is no course offered by IIM Trichy for the candidates who have just passed class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. The institute offers courses at PG and doctoral levels for which the candidates must at least have a graduate degree and postgraduate degree respectively from a recognised university.

How to get admission in IIM Trichy for BBA?

A BBA programme is not available at IIM Trichy. Nonetheless, the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is available at IIM Trichy. A valid CAT score is required for the PGPM admissions procedure. The first round of Personal Interviews (PI) shortlists candidates based on the CAT percentile. The candidate's performance in the PI of the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2024 will be taken into consideration during the final selection process for admission to the PGPM 2024–26 batch.

IIM Trichy application process for admission to the courses is entirely online. In order to be considered for admission to the PGPM or DPM courses, students must first register for the CAT exam. How to Apply for IIM Trichy Admission?

• Step 1: Go to the official website of IIM Trichy.
• Step 2: Select the programme from the drop-down menu by clicking on the "Programmes" option located on the top menu bar.
• Step 3: Examine the IIM Trichy admission criteria of the chosen programme.
• Step 4: Register and appear for any one of the entrance examinations that are accepted for your chosen course i.e. CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE/NET/JRF (UGC/CSIR).
• Step 5: Completely fill out the IIM Trichy application form by providing all the required information.
• Step 6: Upload all necessary documents, including research ideas, academic mark sheets, certificates, scorecards from qualifying exams, and category certificates.
• Step 7: Apply online and pay the IIM Trichy application fee of  Rs 1000 with a credit card, debit card, NEFT, or UPI. Submit the application form before the deadline of February 15, 2024 (23:59 Hours).
• Step 8: Check IIM Jammu admission status for CAP Counselling/SAP Counselling/ Personal Interview/Merit list, depending on the individual selection process of the course.
• Step 9: Appear for the counselling/interview rounds.
• Step 10: Check for the final merit list or selection lists on the official website.
• Step 11: Submit the required documents for verification and pay the admission fee.

IIM Trichy application fee must be paid by the candidates after completely filling out the application form. For admission to IIM Trichy courses, there is a registration fee of Rs 1000 which is common for general category students across courses. For general, OBC, and EWS applicants, the CAT application cost is Rs 2,400 and for SC/ST and PwD applicants, it is Rs 1,200.

The Common Admission Process, or IIM CAP, is a centralised admission procedure which is conducted by all the participating IIMs in India. Its goal is to expedite the admissions process for applicants to these participating IIMs. Candidates can use IIM CAP to apply to numerous IIMs with a single application form and to participate in a shared selection process that consists of a Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT). For candidates, the CAP process streamlines the application and selection process for the participating IIMs, increasing convenience and effectiveness. 

What is IIM Trichy CAP?

IIM Trichy CAP is a unified selection process for admission to the PGPM courses offered by the institute. The participating IIMs including IIM Jammu, IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Trichy, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Udaipur, IIM Ranchi and IIM Nagpur collectively conducts multiple CAP rounds to select eligible students for the MBA programme. IIM Jammu CAP registration 2024 is expected to begin anytime soon. Students will have to register for IIM Trichy CAP 2024 using their CAT login credentials.
