Overall: I had one of my best times at IIM Una. I was a postgraduate student from the 2020 batch. Before I share my experience, I would like to share that Kartha Education Society, a part of the Knowledgucate Group of Institutions headquartered in UAE, set up IIU Una. I qualified GATE and was looking for a university in my hometown, eventually taking admission in IIU Una. I want to highlight that you must carry your documents like mark sheets, caste certificate and 4-passport size photographs at the time of admission. Also, please don't lose your registration number. Examinations at IIU Una are conducted twice, the Mid Semester Test (MST) and the Final Semester Test (FST). You can appear in the FST only if you have at least 75% attendance or more.
Placement: Unfortunately, I did not take part in the placement process, however, I am somewhat aware of the placement scenario. The placement statistics at IIU Una are not at all fancy. The highest package is around Rs 5.7 LPA and the average package is less than Rs 2.5 LPA. The university has not been successful in inviting top companies for recruitment yet.
Infrastructure: Truth to be told, I was sceptical at first as the campus was still at its developing stage, but, seeing its fast development over the years, I am glad to be a part of it. The university has completed its first phase of development. Once the campus starts functioning completely, it will have 45 additional state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, an 18,000 sq. ft. library, a fully air-conditioned 250-seater auditorium and many more.
Faculty: I will always be indebted to the faculty members at IIU Una. I received a lot of help from Dr. Rohit Kumar during my final year project. He is a highly educated and professional individual and made learning fun for students like us. Another great mentor was Dr Narendra Kumar. His practical lessons were very good.
Hostel: The university provides accommodation facilities to students but none of my friends opted for hostels. There is a boys hostel with a capacity of 100 students and a girls hostel with 25 seats. During my time at IIU Una, students preferred staying in nearby PGs rather than opting for the university's hostel. I think the issue will be resolved once the university campus becomes fully operational.
