Located in a popular tourist city Jaipur, JECRC University has gradually risen as one of the sought-after universities in Rajasthan and India. The university has a 32-acre campus with a well-designed infrastructure to provide students with a holistic learning experience. JECRC University is popular for offering a wide range of courses and some of its popular courses are BTech, MTech, BCA, MCA, LLB and B.Pharm. It has been endowed with awards in multiple categories by various leading media agencies and organisations such as India Today, The Week, and Business Today.

The senior faculty and management of JECRC Jaipur is talented and experienced. Some of them are alumni of prestigious institutes. The university hosts events and conducts guest lectures inviting industry experts to share their experiences and guide students. Mr Amit Jain, founder and CEO of CarDekho Group, Dr Nirja Birla, Founder and chairperson of Aditya Birla Education Trust and Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO of Paytm were the most eminent speakers of the year 2023. Furthermore, JECRC University provides Campus Recruitment Training (CRT) so students can bag the best internship and placement opportunities.

But all that glitter is not gold! There is always a different side to a story. According to students, the management appeared helpful during admission but wasn’t addressing their enquiries afterwards. Some of the students claim a lack of proper guidance provided by the faculty. Sometimes they were uncooperative and behaved rudely to the students. A few students believe that these events and placement records are nothing more than a showbiz to attract more students in the next admission cycle. But, we don't know whether there is any substance in these allegations.

JECRC University has been ranked by the leading media agencies such as India Today, Business Today, and The Week in major categories such as university, engineering, science and management. Additionally, Internshala has also ranked JECRC University with an ‘All India' ranking of 14 among 500+ colleges and a zonal ranking of 3 out of 127 colleges. It was ranked the second-best private university in Rajasthan by the Dialogue India Academic International Awards 2022. 

Our Take:

JECRC University has shown improvement in its national rankings in recent years, especially in surveys like The Week-Hansa Research. Indeed, the university's recognition by certain major-ranking agencies in India suggests commendable efforts in academia. However, its absence from other prestigious rankings like NIRF (Engineering) and global rankings like QS and Times Higher Education raises significant questions. However, these rankings can differ across various agencies and categories, such as overall university, engineering, and management. This highlights that relying only on rankings has its limitations.

While national rankings give an idea of a university's position, we believe that they should not be the sole basis for decision-making by students. It's important to question how these rankings are determined, examine a university's performance in different areas, and prioritize your own requirements and goals. Talking to current students, and alumni, and visiting the campus can offer a more detailed insight into whether the university aligns with your educational aspirations.

JECRC University Academia & Batch Size

JECRC University offers 155+ undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering, management, science and humanities. Advanced specialisations such as blockchain, cyber security, cloud computing, AI and ML are offered with B.Tech, BCA, MCA, M.Tech and other JECRC University courses. The university has implemented a choice-based credit system in its curriculum. It also offers skill-development subjects apart from core subjects. 

Looking at the batch size, JECRC University accepts admission to a huge number of students every year. Currently, its batch size is around 3,500. Furthermore, The university has received grants from government agencies for setting up centres of excellence, facilities and incubation to provide development opportunities to students. 

Our Take:

At JECRC University, student happiness appears to be influenced by factors such as the chosen program, batch size, and individual expectations. Students in smaller programs, benefiting from experienced faculty and industry-focused curricula, tend to express higher satisfaction. Conversely, those in larger classes with traditional teaching methods may face challenges and experience dissatisfaction. 

While JECRC University is praised for its efforts to deliver industry-relevant education through experienced faculty, we have found out that there are concerns about large class sizes, inconsistent teaching methods, and student pressure. To improve overall student satisfaction, the university should prioritize smaller batch sizes in critical programs, diversify teaching methods, and foster a more comprehensive learning environment.

JECRC University Infrastructure

• Auditorium/Labs: JECRC has a well-equipped auditorium laced with multimedia facilities for the conduction of various academic and cultural activities. The campus has all the major laboratories for various disciplines such as mechanical, electronics, electrical, civil, CSE, IT,  journalism and mass communication, science, hotel management and design. 
• Library: JECRC has a central library which is open twelve hours a day. It provides a huge collection of physical and digital resources such as reference textbooks, journals, newspapers, magazines and e-learning materials. Students can utilise online e-learning portals such as NPTEL. ​

• IT Infrastructure: JECRC University claims to have IT infrastructure laced with the latest technology such as Google virtual Classrooms, 1 Giga end-to-end connectivity, projector-enabled classrooms and Wi-Fi. JECRC provides 250 Mbps internet speed and connectivity throughout the campus. 
• Hostel and Mess Facilities: JECRC has partnered with ‘Stanza Living’, a tech-enabled managed accommodation company to deliver modern student housing facilities. Separate hostels for boys and girls are available with AC/non-AC rooms, single/double occupancy, internet access, gym, housekeeping and recreational facilities. Our Take:

Our research reveals that many students appreciate the campus for its well-maintained and attractive buildings. Modern classrooms, equipped labs, and well-stocked libraries are viewed as valuable assets that contribute to a comfortable learning environment. The availability of various sports facilities, including basketball courts, football fields, and cricket grounds, along with dedicated recreational areas like gardens and open spaces, is highly valued by students who seek a well-rounded campus life. The on-campus hostels provide convenient accommodation options, and some students praise the amenities such as air conditioning, common rooms, and laundry facilities. The availability of Wi-Fi connectivity, computer labs, and digital tools is also recognized as a positive aspect, enhancing the learning and communication experience for students.

However, some students express concerns about maintenance issues in specific areas, including leaky rooftops, malfunctioning air conditioners, and broken equipment in labs and libraries. These problems can disrupt daily activities and inconvenience students. Accessibility concerns, especially for differently-abled students, are raised due to the lack of ramps, lifts, and designated parking spaces, hindering inclusivity and independent movement. The vast layout of the campus may pose challenges for students residing in distant hostels or those seeking access to specific amenities. Long walking distances can be inconvenient and time-consuming. JECRC University has implemented 1 semester (6-month) mandatory internship for all its courses. The university claims to invite companies to hire interns at the campus. Based on official data, it provides international internship opportunities as well. The students are provided guidance through guides appointed by the Directorate of Internship at JU Jaipur. The final evaluation of students is done by industry experts.

Apart from CS and IT branches, design, law, management, and pharmacy disciplines also witnessed substantial growth in placements according to the university.

Our Take:

JECRC University has published official reports to show its placement and internship records. So, students can easily compare the statistics over the years. However, the statistics provided are for two campuses of the JECRC Foundation. This might create confusion in students’s minds regarding the actual numbers. Also, some students have reported the mismanagement of TPO during the placement training. A few students also claimed that the university didn’t help them with internships. 

Looking at the big picture, the majority of the students seem to be satisfied with the opportunities and getting a fair chance to compete. However, some believe JECRC University didn’t meet their expectations. Considering the heavy fees paid, they had to settle for a lower salary. 

JECRC University Diversity & Demographics

• The male-to-female ratio at JECRC University is 81:19. Admission of female students is considerably lower than male students. 
• The number of students who were residents of Rajasthan was 1735 and students from outside the state were 456.

Our Take:

As per our assessment, no latest report representing the diversity and demographics of JU Jaipur has been published after 2019. So, the current data related to the ratio of males to females and students outside the state may differ. Furthermore, a massive gap in the ratio of male to female students is visible. Additionally, the ratio between home state students to other state students is 79:21 which reflects the unpopularity of JECRC University in other states of India. 

JECRC University Faculty & Management

JECRC University takes pride in its dedicated and seasoned faculty. The senior faculty in the Department of Engineering is highly educated as per the available records. Alumni of prestigious institutes such as BITS Pilani and  MNIT Jaipur are the heads of departments for different engineering branches. The teachers have PhD degrees and 5+ years of experience. Also, the management of JECRC is led by experienced professionals.

Our Take:

A lot of students like having experienced and knowledgeable faculty who are experts in their subjects. This builds trust in the education quality and helps students understand the subjects better. Some faculty members are praised for including practical knowledge and industry exposure through projects, case studies, and guest lectures. This can improve the chances of getting a job after graduation. 

However, feedback indicates worries about deviations in teaching quality among different departments and faculty members. Some professors receive criticism for being less engaging, unclear in explanations, or concentrating only on theoretical knowledge. Students, especially in larger Engineering programs, express dissatisfaction with limited chances for individual attention and interaction with professors. This can impede active participation and personalized learning. Certain students share frustrations about communication issues between the administration and the student body. Commonly mentioned concerns include delayed updates, unclear policies, and difficulties in reaching relevant officials.

JECRC University is located at Ramchandrapura Industrial Area, Vidhani, Sitapura Extension, Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Sitapur extension is considered one of the important industrial corridors of Jaipur. In terms of connectivity, JECRC University can be visited via road, rail, metro and airways.

• Nearest Railway Station: Sanganer railway station is the nearest station which is about 10 km via NH-52.

However, students seeking a livelier social scene and a range of career opportunities might find the location somewhat restrictive.
