Central Computer and Internet Facility cater to the computing requirements of the institution. There are 700 Personal computers in the Institution. The central computer center is equipped with 13 high-end servers for various applications with UPS. There are three different networks existing in the college campus- one for the Academic purpose, one for Administration and one for NPTEL video lectures and Intranet. The academic network connects all the computer labs in various departments. The networks support licensing of various software, Database, Internet, Intranet, CCNA Class, and various projects. The administrative network connects all departments, HOD’s, Faculty rooms and provides administrative data exchange. Intranet provides access to the students from various departments and library and seminar halls and main library. They can view the NPTEL or other video lectures given by eminent professors from IIT and other reputed institutions on various subjects. It also gives access to lecture notes, question bank of all subjects according to the syllabus. The central computing facility is located in the Administrative block. The working hour of the Central Computing Lab is from 8:30 AM to 10 PM and it is open on all days. The Centre is connected to the Internet through a 10 Mbps leased line internet connection of BSNL, which is distributed to 100 terminals in the campus. At the user end, personal computers are connected to the servers through Ethernet switches and structured cabling system. Optic Fiber Connectivity is used for campus networking. Database automation software is used to integrate and automate the administrative and academic activities of the college. Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology has become a part of the Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance. The MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) is a special program to provide academic institutions, faculty, and students in the curriculum areas of Computer Science, Engineering, and Information Systems to make it easier and less expensive to acquire Microsoft developer tools, platforms, and servers for instructional and research purposes.

The college campus is a complete educational township. The College has separate in-campus hostel facilities for both girls and boys. A Resident Doctor takes care of the medical needs of students. The hostels have wardens and resident tutors for educational guidance. The rooms are fully furnished, well designed, large and airy with the best in conveniences. 24 hours running water is ensured. Mess facilities are well supervised and students get wholesome, nutritious food of their choice. Homely ambiance combines with rich educational function to define the environs of the college hostels.

Hostel Rules

1. The inmates are supposed to be in the hostel other than the regular working hours and the allotted time for going out.
2. During the class hours students will be allowed to stay back in the hostel only with the prior permission of the resident tutor / matron.
3. Guests are allowed to visit inmates during the visiting time only as given below Working days :5.00 PM -6.30PM
Holidays: 10. AM – 6.30 PM
4. No visitors will be permitted to enter hostel rooms. They are permitted to enter the visitor’s room only.
5. Day scholars are not permitted to enter the hostel.
6. Inmates should get prior permission of the resident tutor/ matron to go outside the campus, and should enter the details in the movement register.
7. On holidays inmates are allowed to stay out at their residence/specified local guardian’s home only and should write the details in the stay out register.On working days special permission from the warden is required for stay out.
8. All inmates should be there in the hostel before roll call & the time is as given below:
Winter season: 6 PM
Summer season: 6:30 PM
9. Inmates have to be back in their respective rooms before 8.00 PM and are not permitted to go to another room, and there should be compulsory study time between 8.00 PM – 10 PM
10. The inmates can use the library and Internet lab facility within the campus from 8.00PM -10.00PM under the super vision of a staff in charge.
11. The inmates are not allowed to use mobile phone and laptop.
12. The inmates are expected to follow good discipline in the hostel especially in the mess hall.
13. Inmates should keep the rooms neat and tidy, should cooperate to keep the common areas clean.
14. The inmates should treat the hostel staff and other inmates with due respect and kindness. Any tendency to hurt others will invite strict disciplinary action.
15. The inmates can make phone calls between 6 AM-8 AM, 4.00PM-8PM and 10.PM- 11.PM, the duration of the phone call is restricted to 3 minutes. Those who are making phone calls should enter the details in the phone register.
16. No incoming phone calls will be allowed after 11.00Pm
17. Ragging is a criminal offence under law and is strictly prohibited.

Working days: 4.30 PM to 8.00 PM
Holidays :  7.00 AM to 11.00 PM

The inmates are not allowed to watch T.V during study leave and exam days.

Mess Rules

1. The inmates are allowed to enter the mess hall during the mess time only.
7.00 AM – 8.15 AM
11.15 AM- 1.00 PM
4.15PM – 5.15PM
7.00PM – 8.00PM
2. No food will be served after the specified timings.
3. The inmates are not permitted to take food to their rooms, without the prior permission of the resident tutor/matron.
4. Mess cut will be allowed only during examinations and study leaves.
5. NonVeg coupons are given for the whole semester; they cannot change to veg and vice versa.
6. For guests, vegetarian food is served generally otherwise they have to pay an additional amount of Rs.25/- to the guest charge.
Entry to the kitchen is restricted to the authorized persons only.

Mainstreaming of HIV & AIDS and ensuring safe blood are major activities to control the spread of HIV & AIDS in the country. Of the over 1 billion youth (ages 15-24) worldwide, some 10 million youth are living with HIV: .Every day, an estimated 6,000 youth are infected with the virus. Out of 2.47 million estimated population infected by HIV in India, 88.7% are in the age group of 15-49 years. In view of this, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India has proposed to establish a network with Universities and educational institutions to generate awareness regarding HIV & AIDS and to promote Voluntary Blood Donation to ensure safe blood and implement preventive programmes on HIV & AIDS.

Under the NACP III youth have been identified as a vulnerable group requiring special attention. Recognizing the heterogeneity of the youth NACP III aims to promote Red Ribbon Clubs to cover youth at risk to HIV both in campuses as well as in community.

Through RRC youth are encouraged to learn about safe and healthy lifestyles. The RRC promotes access to information on safe sexual behaviors and voluntary blood donation as well as enable them to become change agents in HIV & AIDS programme.

To create and provide opportunity to the zeal of volunteerism among youth to contribute towards the control and prevention of HIV&AIDS Red Ribbon Club in the educational institutions will be formed. The concept and design of the programme is based on the lessons and experiences of the Red Ribbon Clubs formed in the educational institutions in the States of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh.

The Red Ribbon Club is a voluntary on-campus intervention program for students in educational institutions. It is initiated and supported by the State AIDS Control Society and implemented through multi-sectoral collaboration, particularly, using the services of cadre officers of the State’s National Service Scheme (NSS).

The programme will address the knowledge, attitude and behavior of the youths in the interrelated areas of Voluntary Blood Donation, HIV & AIDS and sexuality, as demanded by their age, environment, and life style. The, Red Ribbon Club will serve as a complementary and comprehensive prevention intervention to support and reinforce similar youth led initiatives.

Thus Red Ribbon Club Programme (RRCP) is a comprehensive promotional and preventive intervention to enhance voluntary blood donation as well as mainstream HIV & AIDS prevention, care & support and treatment impact, mitigation, stigma reduction, among the youth in educational institutions. It will also prepare and promote youth peer educators within and outside the campuses.

The National Service Scheme unit was formed with a noble aim of serving the different sections of the under privileged and the needy. The NSS unit of MCET actively organizes various social services activities for the communities from March 2004 onwards. The motto of NSS unit is ‘Not me, But you..!’. The unit donates clothes, baby food etc. to the Infant Care Centre of Council for Child Welfare. The NSS volunteers of the college have donated Blood to a number of patients admitted in hospitals in Trivandrum. The program organized by NSS includes free medical camp for the people of Anad panchayat, Blood donation camp, Health awareness, Cleaning program in KSRTC depot, Hospitals etc, Planting medical tree in the premises of Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital, Distribution of study materials and other accessories for Govt. L P Schools of Anad and Chullimanoor. The unit organizes intensive campaign for sensitizing the students about the need for fostering communal harmony, National Integration and fraternity through various programmes. The unit also hosted the Annual meet of National Service Scheme during the year 2010.

The state level NSS Volunteer Secretaries and Programme Officers workshop conducted by our college on 13th, 14th and 15th June 2014 has a great success. Padmasree Sri.G.Shankar, Founder of Habitat Technology Group and an eminent contemporary architech of our state inaugurated the workshop. Shri.AbdulJabbarAhammed, Programme Co-ordinator, NSS Tech. cell and Shri.Harichandran TVM District co-ordinator had praised the achievements of MCET and wished on the occasion. The three day state level workshop sessions were enriched by the presents of various expertise including Shri.C.Samuel Chelliah (Youth Officer and Head, NSS Regional Centre) Shri. I V Soman(Co-ordinator, NSS ETI, Kalamassery), Shri. C M Shajahan(PENTA Officer in Charge), Shri. Ravi Mohan(Project Consultant, NSS Tech cell), Shri. Brahmanayakam Mahadevan, Shri.P S Prasanth(Vice Chairman, Kerala State Youth Wellfare Board) has made the valedictory message. The contribution and support rendered by our Director Dr.AshalathaThampuran and the Management Shri.G Mohandas, Chairman of our college need special acknowledgment. The heartful involvement of NSS Programme Officer Ms.Sherin Jose, Volunteers, Various teaching and non teaching staff made the programme a great success.

The music club is scheduled for first year students during the seventh hours of Day1 and Day4. The club comprises of 26 students who have great passion for both vocal and instrumental music. A group was selected among them as a college band and their practice takes place every Fridays. The club hours were engaged by different staff members. During the club hours, different games and discussions on music were held. Music comprises of classical, contemporary, light, western etc depending on the choice of the students. On certain days, games like antakshari were played to entertain the students.

Quiz club activities were conducted for all branches of S1S2 students on Day 5. In the first day freshers were given guidance on the conduct of quiz competitions in the college. Student representatives from each branch were selected. Students in charge from senior batches were selected.
At the beginning session, seniors were asked to conduct quiz for S1S2 batches under the supervision of the respective staff members allotted for each branch.

Software club is conducted to improve software skills in students. First year students from various branches are active members of this club. Training was given on MS Power Point  as  a  starting phase. For handling the club, various software like Adobe Photoshop, Flash etc, were loaded. Student representatives from each branch were selected. Students in charge from senior batches were also selected for the proper functioning of the club.A workshop was conducted for S3 students.

Dance club  aims to enhance their cultural skills in addition to academic skills. Dance club activities were conducted for all branches of S1S2 students on Day 1 and Day 4. Student representatives from each branch were selected. Students in charge from senior batches were selected.

Painting club is conducted for first year students every year.  In each class they were given a theme to be exhibited by either pencil drawing or water colour painting.
During last year various famous artists in the painting field come to conduct workshops in the campus.

To improve acting skills in students, MCET organizes drama club in every academic year. This club is for first year students. Students from various branches had actively participated in the club activities.
Various workshops are conducted by eminent artists on acting, dialogue delivery and script writing during the last year.

A literary club is organized by MCET in every academic year to improve the literary skills in students. First year students from various branches are active members of this club.
It was an interactive session. There was active participation of students.the students were regularly given topics for essay writing & short story writing( in English, Malayalam, Hindi) &   made to write on the given topics. Elocution, recitation & poetry writng in Malayalam & English were also conducted.

Photography Club of MCET conducted discussions based on the articles related to photography. The photos taken during various college events were shown to club members. Students took photos of various events conducted as part of Colloquium and Sports day. Organized a one day workshop on natural photography.
Various Workshops on photography are conducted by eminent photographers during the last year.

A debate club is organized by MCET in every academic year for first year students. This will encourage the first year students to participate in debate competition on the arts festival.

Videography club creates awareness programs to students about how to operate a video camera, how to make documentary film and how to edit it
