“What sets worlds in motion is the interplay of differences, their attractions and repulsions. Life is plurality, death is uniformity. By suppressing differences and peculiarities, by eliminating different civilizations and cultures, progress weakens life and favors death. The ideal of a single civilization for everyone, implicit in the cult of progress and technique, impoverishes and mutilates us. Every view of the world that becomes extinct, every culture that disappears, diminishes a possibility of life”- Octavio Paz.
Students from different cultural and geographical backgrounds study with us. They assimilate into a cohesive whole on our campus and thus foster humanistic values.
“History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.”- Martin Luther King, Jr.
In today’s economy, management graduates are faced with one of the most challenging job markets in the annals of world history. They need to update their job search strategy to stand a chance. An innovative way to do this is to add social media to the mix.
The concept of social media club today is quite different from what it was only a few years ago. Social media today is not just about updating status or posting pictures from a party held on the previous night. Instead it is changing the way we search for jobs, communicate, learn, share and do business.
There is an imperative today to include the social media in the framework of higher education because it is literally changing the world. The Social Media Club at National School of Business was formed to facilitate interaction among members to explore key issues facing our society as technologies transform the way we connect, communicate, collaborate and relate to each other. The Club enables you to explore your personal and professional passions by helping you connect with a community of your peers based on both geography and areas of interest. Our club will ensure that the world of social media does not become an echo chamber of self-reinforcing thoughts, but is instead fueled by diversity of opinions and perspectives.
We are starting a discussion on how membership in Social Media Club can serve as a ‘trusted mark’ for people to know that someone is ethical, understands social media and is committed to the advancement of the industry. Our club has gone beyond being a buzz phrase and has sparked widespread curiosity and interest in our network. Needless to say, our students and faculty are now eager to learn about and use interactive social media tools.
The club was started by a few ardent movie enthusiasts with the aim of exposing NSBians to interesting and enlightening movies. The club screens a movie every weekend which is like a treat for all students.
A film is-or should be more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later. By far the most celebrated club among all clubs of National School of Business, the Movie Club occupies a special place in every student’s heart. Its tremendous popularity can be gauged by the fact that it has more members than any other club.
It has become a trend that everyone in the college would join the Movie Club, even if he chooses to join no other. The club prints the ticket for every movie premiere and generates revenue. It also sells some snacks and soft drinks during the show. Even if a member has missed watching the exhibited movies, he/she can always view them later. The fact that the Movie Club has a wide range of movies which spans diverse areas bear ample testimony to the fact the club can boast not only of quantity, but also of quality. Keeping all interests in mind, the club has something for each of its members. From ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ to ‘Blood Diamond’, from ‘When a stranger calls’ to ‘Hangover’, the movies cater to multiple and varied backgrounds. The students of National School of Business students are not merely spectators but knowledgeable about cinema. This is an attempt to make learning process ‘student centric’.
