• Tamil University will upload the merit list on its official website, and selected candidates will be called for the counselling process, where they are required to opt for the course and the affiliated college of their choice. Then based on their performance in the last qualifying exam, entrance exam and availability of the vacant seats in their chosen college, admission is granted. 
• PhD aspirants are exempted from TURCET (Tamil University research programme- common entrance test) only if they have qualified for national-level entrance examinations such as UGC/CSIR NET (JRF) examination, SET, GATE (with a valid score), or Teacher Research Fellowship. Tamil University will directly invite such candidates for further selection rounds, such as a personal interview.
• TURCET is an offline test that is mandatory to qualify for PhD admission. Upon qualifying for the examination, candidates are invited to attend a personal interview on the basis of which admission is granted.
