Ishan Uday Scholarship

Ishan Uday scholarship 2024: The University Grant Commission (UGC) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) launched the Ishan Uday scholarship to provide monthly financial assistance to promote higher education amongst students of North Eastern Region (NER).  Ishan Uday scholarship is provided to NER students pursuing any degree, technical or professional courses. Around 10,000 fresh scholarships are introduced each year. The students from NER region can avail of this scholarship which ranges from INR 5,400 to 7,800 based on the type of degree courses.

 Applicants can check out the below-mentioned eligibility criteria to apply for the Ishan Uday scholarship:

1. Only for UG Students: Applicants enrolled in Undergraduate degree courses are eligible to apply under the Scholarship Scheme.
2. NER Domicile: Students must be residents of the NER region. Also, it is important to have a domicile certificate as well. 
3. Class 12th Passing Certificate: Applicants must have passed class 12th from a recognized school board like CBSE, ICSE and NIOS. 
4. Category: Candidates applying for the scholarship must belong to the Economically Weaker Sector (EWS) or Economically Backward Class (EBC) category.
5. Undergraduate Courses Criteria: Candidates applying for this scholarship must be enrolled in UGC approved college/institution and pursue the following UG Courses-

• Technical Degree Courses 
• General Degree Courses 
• Professional Courses 
• Vocational Courses
• Paramedical Courses
• Medical Courses

1. Income Criteria: The annual income of the student’s family must not exceed INR 4,50,000. 
2. Open University Students Not Eligible: Students in UG courses from open universities are not eligible for the scholarship.
3. Not for Management Quota Students: This scholarship is not for students who have been enrolled in UG courses with management quota.
4. Not for Diploma Students: Ishan Uday scholarship is only for students enrolled in UG Degree courses, not UG Diploma courses. 

Applicants who are residents of the following states will be eligible for the Ishan Uday scholarship:

1. Arunachal Pradesh
2. Manipur
3. Assam
4. Mizoram
5. Tripura
6. Meghalaya
7. Nagaland

Given below are the eligibility criteria that have to be fulfilled by the candidates in order to apply for Ishan Uday Scholarship 2024:

1. Maintain good academic performance. 
2. Maintenance of the prescribed attendance record (75% attendance). 
3. Annual Progress report grated by the college/university has to be submitted by the candidates
4. If a candidate fails in the academic session, he/she will be forfeited from receiving the scholarship reward. 
5. If the candidate changes the course of study, he/she will be forfeited from receiving the scholarship reward.

13. For renewals, candidates must attach an annual progress report to apply for the renewal of this scholarship. 

Candidates interested in applying for  Ishan Uday Scholarship 2024 must follow the step-wise application process provided below

• Step 1: Visit the official website of National Scholarship Portal (NSP) - scholarships.gov.in. 
• Step 2: From the Applicant’s Corner available on the right-hand side of the display, click on the New Registration Link provided inside that box. 
• Step 3: Read the terms and conditions mindfully and then click on the Continue button. 
• Step 4: A registration form will be displayed on the screen.
• Step 5: Fill out all the details required in the Ishan Uday scholarship’s application form such as Name of the application, Mobile Number, Gender, State, Category, Scholarship Category, Scheme type, Bank Account Information, Applicant’s Email ID and Identification details of the candidate
• Step 6: Verify your mobile number. Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number and submit the Ishan Uday scholarship application form.
• Step 7: Save your login credentials like application ID and password for future use. 

Given below are the rewards that selected candidates will receive. A total of 10,000 students based on NER can avail Ishan Uday scholarship. The reward received by the students in their registered bank account varies based on the type of course applicant pursues after class 12th.

Note: This scholarship amount will be received by the candidates on an annual basis. Ishan Uday scholarship Reward is transferred by the concerned authorities directly to the bank account provided by the candidates during the registration process.

Given below are the Selection Criteria followed by the concerned authorities to provide the Ishan Uday scholarship to the right set of candidates:

• Number of Scholarships: A total number of 10,000 scholarships is provided to the eligible candidates for Ishan Uday Scholarship 2024. 
• Slot Distribution: The number of slots per state will be determined based on the population census as per last year’s data. In case, seats are vacant due to unavailability of applicants, the unfulfilled seats will be distributed among the other states. 
• Reservations for PwD Category: As per norms set by the Government of India, a few seats in every state will be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD). 
• Academic Performance: One of the factors that will be considered during the selection process is the candidate's academic performance.
