SSP Scholarship

SSP scholarship is a state-funded programme open to Karnataka residents from class I to those pursuing a post-doctoral studies. Different SSP scholarship programmes are offered to students studying at the pre-matric and post-matric levels by a number of subsidiary departments under the state government.  

The term "SSP scholarship" refers to all of the financial aid programmes the State of Karnataka (SSP) offers to students who reside in the state.  The Government of Karnataka has established a special online platform to oversee the efficient administration of numerous pre- and post-matriculation scholarships provided by various government agencies. The main goal of this scholarship is to provide financial support to deserving students who struggle to pay for their education, regardless of caste, category, or gender.

Students in the SC/ST, OBC, Minority, and other categories can apply to the state-funded SSP scholarship using the SSP (State Scholarship Portal), a web-based application. Applications for pre-matriculated and post-matriculated SSP scholarships must be submitted via the official SSP portal, which is administered by the Karnataka government and the Centre for e-governance. Through the SSP scholarship programmes, the state government is dedicated to helping aspirant students who are pursuing higher education and providing financial benefits. Because of this, applicants can easily apply to their preferred scheme through the SSP scholarship portal and monitor the applications in real time.

The State Scholarship Portal was launched by the Government of Karnataka with the goal of ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of the scholarships offered by its various departments, as well as their disbursement. It makes sure that the student's uploaded documents and application are transparent. Additionally, the scholarship money from different departments is distributed to the recipients' accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The important divisions that provide their scholarships through the SSP scholarship portal are -

Scholarships are available to students from a variety of social groups through seven different government agencies in Karnataka. The Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board Scheme, the Tribal Welfare Department, and others are just a few of the departments.

The list of scholarships that are offered through the SSP portal for the academic year 2023 is highlighted in the table below.

The applicant must be a resident of Karnataka, which is one of the foremost eligibility requirements that apply to all scholarships offered on the SSP scholarship portal. A candidate must also meet additional requirements in order to be considered for an SSP scholarship. Before applying, it is mandatory that a candidate double-check the requirements as the eligibility varies depending on the applicant's chosen scholarship and requirement.

• Post-matric Scholarship for SC Students Eligibility Criteria
• The student must be a Karnataka resident.
• In the previous final examination, the student must have received at least 50% or equivalent grades.
• The annual family income of the student should be INR 2.5 lakh or less.

• The student must be a Karnataka resident.
• In the previous final examination, the student must have received at least 50% or equivalent grades.
• The annual family income of the student should be INR 2.5 lakh or less.

• The student must be a Karnataka resident and belong to one of the SC/ST or Minority communities.
• During the academic year, the student must attend 75% of the classes.
• The annual income of a SC/ST family must be INR 2 lakh or less.
• OBC families must have an annual income of INR 1 lakh or less.

• Students must be Karnataka residents and belong to the Backward Classes.
• They must be pursuing post-matriculation studies. They must have received at least 50% (for category 1) and 60% (for categories
• 2A, 3A, and 3B) in the previous examination.
• A family's annual income must be less than INR 2.5 lakh.

• The student must be a Karnataka resident. 
• Student must be in Class 11, 12, graduate, postgraduate, technical or vocational courses, M.Phil or PhD Student must have at least
• 50% or equivalent grades in the previous final examination
• The total annual income of a student should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.
• Students must be a member of a minority group (Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, or Zoroastrian/Parsi).

• The student must be a Karnataka resident.
• The student must be in Class 9.
• Students must have received 55% or equivalent in Class 8 (with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST students).
• The family's total income must be less than INR 2.5 lakhs.

• The student must be a Karnataka resident.
• The annual family income of a student should range between INR 2.5 lakh and INR 10 lakh.
• Scholarship for Military Service: Parents of ST/SC students must be in the Army/Navy/Airforce or work as JCO/NCO/Lower rank.

• The student must be a Karnataka resident.
• The annual family income of the student must range between INR 2.5 lakh and INR 10 lakh.

• The student must be a Karnataka resident and a member of the Brahmin community.
• Student's family income should be less than INR 8 lakh. Students must have obtained at least 50% or equivalent grades in the previous final examination.

All SSP scholarship applications must be submitted online through the SSP portal. Applicants can apply for any of the scholarships listed above by following the steps outlined below.

To create an Account for the SSP Scholarship, candidates must follow the steps mentioned below:

• Step 1: Go to the State Scholarship Portal's official website.
• Step 2: Go to the link provided to apply for the "Post-Matric Scholarship for FY 2022-23."
• Step 3: Now press the "Create Account" button.
• Step 4: Fill in the required fields, check the consent box, and click the "Proceed" button.
• Step 5: Following this, the applicants' Aadhaar will be linked to their bank account. Enter your email address, mobile number, and OTP, then click the "Submit" button.
• Step 6: Enter the certificate's information and click the "Proceed" button. 
  Please note that after clicking the proceed button, applicants will be asked to check their names on the certificates. If it is correct, the applicants will be directed to the following page.
• Step 7: If the applicants have a ration card, select yes and enter their ration card number; otherwise, they must apply for a ration card in order to continue with the process.
• Step 8: A list of family members will appear after entering the ration card number. To proceed, select the applicant's name from the list and click the "Check" button.
• Step 9: Create a password and then click the "Submit" button.

Note: The password should not contain any special characters.

Candidates must follow the steps below to proceed with the Students Login procedure to complete the SSP Scholarship application process:
 

• Step 1: Go to the SSP scholarship's official website.
• Step 2: On the dashboard, click the "Student Login" button.
• Step 3: Login by entering your username, password, and captcha.

Note: If you forget your student ID or password, you can easily retrieve them by clicking on the "Forget Password" or "Know your Student ID" button.

• Step 4: After logging in, complete the scholarship application. Fill out the application with all of the required information.
• Step 5: Submit the application after uploading all necessary documents. 

To apply for a scholarship through the SSP scholarship portal, applicants must have their documents e-Attestation by a College e-Attestation officer. An applicant can easily get their documents attested online by following the steps listed below:

• Step 1: Go to the SSP scholarship's official website.
• Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Click here for e-authentication portal (Students)".
• Step 3: A new window will open. Type in your Aadhaar number, complete the captcha, check the box next to "I agree," and then click the "Verify" button.
• Step 4: The student profile page will be directed to the applicants. Enter the information, upload the files, and select the course, college, and university.
• Step 5: Next, fill out and download the "Aadhaar Consent" form by clicking on it.
• Step 6: Take the form and original documents to your college's e-Attestation officer to have them attested.
• Step 7: The documents will appear under the Approved documents section once the officer has e-Attested them.

Note: Karnataka residents studying in another state cannot e-attest their documents online. They must, however, carry the documents and have them attested in accordance with the laws of the state in which they reside.

If applicants do not upload the required documents in support of their application, their application for the SSP scholarship is incomplete. Applicants who wish to apply for a scholarship through the SSP scholarship portal must provide the following documents:

• Bonafide Certificate
• SSLC/ 10th Marks Card
• Aadhaar Number of Student and Parents
• PUC Registration Number (first-year degree courses)
• Disability Card Number issued by GOI for Differently-Abled Students.
• EWS Certificate (Applicable for only Brahmin category students) Number in the Student’s Name Starting with RD
• Recent Salary Slip/ Certificate (In case of Students Parents working in State/Central Government)

The scholars are chosen by the committee based on their financial needs. The SSP scholarship programme is designed to encourage deserving students from the SC/ST, OBC, EBC, and minority groups to pursue higher education without financial constraints. The following are the selection criteria for the SSP scholarship 2024:

• Candidates are chosen based on their family's income and financial situation.
• If two applicants for the scholarship have the same family income, the committee will give preference to the older child in the family for the SSP scholarship.

Candidates can track the status of their SSP scholarship application by providing a few details. The following are the steps to check the SSP scholarship status:

• Step 1: Candidates should go to the SSP portal scholarship website.
• Step 2: On the home page, they should click the 'track student scholarship status' button. 
• Step 3: Candidates must enter their SATS ID, select the fiscal year, and then click the search button.
• Step 4: They can now check the status of their SSP scholarship application.
