GMC Kottayam, popularly known as Kottayam Medical College, was established in 1961 with a 50-student MBBS batch. The college introduced GMC Kottayam PG courses (MD/MS) in 1973-74. In 2021, a dental college was also established on the campus. Today, the GMC Kottayam courses list also includes Bachelor of Cardiovascular Technology, diploma, PG diploma, and PG superspeciality courses. The annual intake capacity for the MBBS programme is 150, and the admission is based on the NEET UG exam conducted by the NTA.
