Kerala University admissions are done both on the basis of entrance exams as well as on the basis of merit. Admissions at Kerala University for the available courses are done under the choice-based credit and semester (CBCS) system. A rank list is prepared thereafter based on which seats are allotted. There is no centralised allotment for management quota. Candidates should contact the colleges to take admission and submit the printout of the application form to the respective colleges. The registration for the same will start after the registration for online centralised admission closes. The Kerala University CSS admission to CSS (Credit and Semester System) courses i.e. PG courses like M.Tech, MBA, M.Phil, M.Sc, MA, MSW and others offered at Kerala University is done on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance test.

Kerala University UG admissions to first-degree programmes under CBCS system and career-related first degree programmes in government/aided/ self financing affiliated colleges and centers of the university are done either on the basis of merit or on the basis of entrance exams or assessment tests. Admissions offered to first-degree programmes under CBCS system at Kerala University to the affiliated arts and science colleges are done on the basis of online centralised allotment.
What is Online Centralised Allotment?
The Kerala University online centralised allotment offers candidates the opportunity to gain admission to any of the university's colleges/centers and to any of the programmes of their choice based on merit. The university will not conduct online centralised allotment for the following first-degree programmes/courses. All programmes for which entrance test and aptitude tests are conducted for admission, like BFA, BPEd, BA Music & BPA programme
University of Kerala admissions are done either through online centralised allotment or by applying directly to the colleges concerned. Candidates need to fill the eligibility criteria first and foremost. The marks obtained at 10+2 are the basic criteria for admission to the first-degree programmes (FDPs) under the centralised allotment system.
Admission without the centralised allotment:
For admission to Kerala University courses on the basis of entrance exam/aptitude test candidates must also register online before the closure of registration. Following registration, the printout of the Kerala University application form must be submitted directly to the respective colleges. Students will be chosen based on an aptitude test administered at the college level or an entrance exam administered at the state/national level. Candidates who pass the entrance examination and wish to take admission to Kerala University in the current academic year will be able to register online once the results are published. They will be taken into account in subsequent allotments.

Kerala University PG admissions are offered on the basis of grade/marks obtained in the qualifying examination except for courses like MBA, MCA, MAHRM, MPE, MSW, MFA, MTTM and MASLP. Remaining PG courses admissions 2024, in arts and science colleges affiliated with Kerala University, will be done through online centralised allotment. The marks/grade secured at the degree level will be the basic criteria for admission to these Kerala University PG courses.

Candidates who have applied, appeared and qualified for GATE 2023 are eligible for direct Kerala University M.Tech admission. The candidate needs to follow the registration process as well as the University of Kerala application process. Only the candidate needs to attach their GATE score card while filling out the Kerala University M.Tech application form and submitting the same at the time of document verification.
Kerala University CSS admission to M.Sc, M.Tech, MBA, MSW, LLM, M.Ed (Education), M.Com, M.L.I.Sc courses are offered on the basis of entrance exams. Candidate must meet the eligibility criteria prior to admission. Candidates who clear the entrance exam must submit the necessary documents to the college of their choice at the time of the interview. The documents will be then verified by the respective colleges and admission will be granted. Trivandrum, Ernakulam and Kozhikkode in Kerala are the centres of the entrance examination. There will be two types of reservations for candidates here. They are mandatory reservation and special reservation

After the candidates appeared for the entrance examination and the results are out, a merit list will be released based on which the candidates will be shortlisted. Those candidates then need to report to the respective Kerala University department along with admission memo, transfer certificate, mark sheet, eligibility certificate and birth certificate. Then, they need to get their documents verified and pay the Kerala University admission fees. Thus, marking the end of the University of Kerala CSS admission process.
