Established in 2017, VIT Bhopal is now recognised as an ‘Institution of Eminence’ by the Govt of India. Spread across 250+ acres of land, the institute has introduced India’s first integrated ‘Lecture and Laboratory’ learning platform with classrooms without blackboards and back benches. VIT Bhopal also claims to be the first campus with 100% doctoral faculty. 

Course-wise, VIT Bhopal offers future-ready programmes such as aerospace engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning, bioengineering, cyber security and digital forensics, and gaming technology. Many new programmes have been introduced in recent years such as AI and cybernetics, cloud computing and automation, education technology, e-commerce technology, health informatics, and AI and robotics.

Infrastructure-wise, VIT Bhopal boasts about its two playgrounds, sophisticated laboratories, hostel accommodation, and health and recreation amenities among numerous others. Not only that, VIT Bhopal is the first campus to provide unlimited internet access with state-of-the-art Wave 2 technology. Behind the clean picture, VIT Bhopal struggles with providing students with enough classrooms. Students have opined that hostels are not properly maintained and they have to deal with the rude behaviour of its non-teaching staff. VIT Bhopal Ranking

NIRF Ranking: Not a Participating Member!

Our Take:

VIT Bhopal has not participated in the NIRF Ranking 2023. NIRF Ranking holds a lot of importance for students to understand the present status of a college or university in terms of its teaching, exposure, and placements among others. Therefore, VIT Bhopal not participating in the NIRF Ranking indicated that it is a relatively new institute and needs a lot more to work on to participate in the NIRF Ranking in the coming years.

VIT Bhopal Academia and Fees

VIT Bhopal has adopted CALTech, collaborative and active learning through technology in its curriculum allowing students access to a professional learning environment. One highlight of the VIT Bhopal academic curriculum is the Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS). It empowers students to choose their desired VIT Bhopal courses, faculty and pace of study. Accodring to official sources, it is mandatory for students to take part in soft skills training as part of the curriculum for better placement prospects and professional skills. Hack-a-thons, Make-a-thons, Idea-thons are other brownie points of the VIT Bhopal academic system.

Academic Composition 

VIT Bhopal academia is a mix of classroom learning, assessments and practicals. The college ensures equal weightage is given to theoratical and practical learning.

Our Take:

Students have widely accepted the Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS) system. They have further expressed that the fees justify the outcome results. According to the students feedback, placement results at VIT Bhopal are good and grant students the right career opportunities against the fees charged.

VIT Bhopal Infrastructure

Academic Block

VIT Bhopal academic block with a built-in area of 31,180 sq. mt. is equipped with high-speed internet connectivity, a 600-seater auditorium, and technology-enabled classrooms.

Our Take:

Nevertheless, as per some parents, VIT Bhopal admits more students than the officially approved intake. These parents have noted that the institute lacks sufficient classrooms to accommodate all its students, resulting in students being sent home for an entire semester with their studies transitioning to an online mode.
 

Laboratory

VIT Bhopal boasts about its well-equipped laboratories and Pre-Engineered Laboratory Complex, built in a 7875.7 sq. mt area housing advanced laboratories for B.Tech and M.Tech courses. A few other highlights of the laboratory complex are

• Gaming Studio
• Aerospace Lab
• IoT Lab, and
• Bioengineering Labs

Library

VIT Bhopal library has 2 floors spread across 706 sq. mt. with over 50,000 books, journals, e-books, magazines, etc. The library also has e-books and e-journals for students. 

Multi-Purpose Hall

With a built-in area of 2,410.6 sq. mt., the institute’s multi-purpose hall is used to organise Chemistry and Mechanical workshops along with indoor games facilities for the students and faculty members.
 

Cafe/Hang-out Areas

The institute boasts about its air-conditioned food court made of recycled containers, also known as the Green Building. Students can devour multi-cuisine foods and snacks in between classes in this building.

Our Take:

Even though VIT Bhopal has taken an environment-friendly approach, a few students opined that the mess is not properly maintained and crowded at all times making it difficult for them to find a place to have their lunch.

Hostels

Men:  VIT Bhopal Boys hostel is equipped with the following facilities:

• Wi-Fi enabled premises
• A/C & Non A/C Sharing Rooms
• Gym
• Health Center
• Hair Dressing Facility
• Badminton & Basket Ball Court
• Large Dining Mess

Women: VIT Bhopal offers a 6-storey building for women students with facilities like Wi-Fi enabled A/C and Non-A/C sharing rooms, kitchen and dining.

Our Take:

As per the students' feedbacks, the hostel facilities are not proper given the hefty fees charged every year. They highlighted the difficulty in internet accessibility and the rude behaviour of the hostel staff. 

Some students expressed their dissatisfaction about not being assigned rooms despite having fully paid their hostel fees. On further investigation, we have found that  VIT Bhopal is constructing the following to address the situation:

• A girl's hostel facility with 3 wings of 26,022.2 sq. mt. area with facilities such as a recreation centre, library, mess facility, sports facility, gymnasium, swimming pool and a food court.
• 2  boys hostel of 17,924.2 sq. mt. area will with Wi-Fi-enabled A/C and Non-A/C sharing rooms, a large dining and food court.

VIT Bhopal Internships and Placements

Internships

VIT Bhopal has an internship course of 2 credits in its curriculum. In 2022, companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Visa, Virtusa and Appointy have come to VIT Bhopal to recruit students for internships, out of which students got placed in Visa, Virtusa and Appointy. On average, every year 10 students from VIT Bhopal get selected for international internships in leading MNCs in the USA, Ireland, Japan, China, Israel, Taiwan, UAE, Kenya, Germany, Nigeria and Italy.

Our Take: 

It is evident that the VIT Bhopal placement performance for 2023 is commendable. 2 students received 5 offers and the highest salary package increased by INR 13,97,000 from INR 45.03 LPA in 2022 to INR 59 LPA in 2023.

Students reported that starting from their third year, numerous companies visit the campus, offering pre-placement offers (PPOs) and internship opportunities. However, they also administer pre-tests as part of the selection process. It is apparent that VIT Bhopal offers ample opportunities as long as a student possesses the required skills and capabilities.

VIT Bhopal Diversity and Demographics

VIT Bhopal has a diverse cultural ambience with students from across India and the globe. Initiatives like the student ambassador programme, semester abroad programme and international transfer programme hold testament to the fact that students are provided with the right exposure and opportunities required for their holistic development.

Our Take:

When asked to students about the campus crowd, they expressed that the majority of the students studying at VIT Bhopal hail from Delhi, Maharashtra and UP. If news is to be believed, there were two incidences that highlight the fact that VIT Bhopal is lenient towards student management. One was the Bulli Bai App case and another where a student unalived himself citing the reason as stress. Here are the snippets of the same:

VIT Bhopal Faculty and Administration/Management

Our Take:

Faculty-wise, students have a mixed opinion. However, with the implementation of the Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS), they are able to choose their faculty of choice. Students have expressed grave concern about the inexperienced admin staff and management. They have complained about the inappropriate behaviour of the administrative and management staff towards their parents. They added that parents concerns are not addressed and the management communicates with the students only through emails.

Further, the fee remittance procedure is not adequate and the single window payment system through VTOP has caused difficulties for students to avail their full/partial remittances.

VIT Bhopal Location

VIT Bhopal is located on the Bhopal-Indore Highway in the Kothri Kalan district of Sehore in Madhya Pradesh. 

By Road: Students need to travel to Lalghati Square from ISBT Bus Stand which is at a distance of approximately 11 km. The campus is at a distance of 62 km from Lalghati Square, on the Bhopal-Indore highway and 3 km away from the 2nd Tollplaza.

By Rail: The closest railway stations from the VIT Bhopal campus are  Bhopal Railway Station and Habibganj Railway Station which is at a distance of 71 km and 74 km, respectively.

By Air: Bhopal Airport and Indore Airport are at a distance of 71 km and 77 km from the institute campus, respectively.

Our Take:

Lalghati Square serves as the central point for students arriving by rail or air, requiring them to further commute by road to reach the VIT Bhopal campus, using either the Bhopal-Indore highway or the 2nd Tollplaza. Students have expressed dissatisfaction with the available transportation options. Due to its considerable distance from the city, accessing the institute poses a challenge for students, especially considering the underdeveloped areas extending up to approximately 20 km from the campus.

VIT Bhopal Expectations vs Reality - CollegeDekho Verdict

On our investigation and going through the students verdict, the one thing that they found to be best is the course curriculum.  The adoption of the Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS) has helped students not only select the course of their choice but also choose their faculty. It allows students the flexibility to pursue their career goals at ease and even approach their faculty without any hesitation. Moreover, the institute claims to have a 100% doctoral faculty which signifies that the faculty members are experts in their respective fields.

Infrastructure-wise, VIT Bhopal has provided its students with reasonable facilities, however, maintenance has been an issue that the students have raised, especially the mess. Leniency towards managing students has been highlighted with incidents such as the Bulli Bai App case which became a piece of national news. It is also evident from the students' comment that the non-teaching staff has been rude towards their parents and there is a need for VIT Bhopal to increase the efficiency of its single window payment system through VTOP.
