Alagappa College of Technology is a public institution, situated in Chennai and was founded in 1944. It was established on the donation of Vallal Dr Alagappa Chettiar to Dr A. Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar, Vice-Chancellor of Madras University. ACT Chennai admission to the B.Tech courses are carried out on the basis of marks in TNEA counselling, and the admissions to M.Tech courses are carried out on the basis of performance in the TANCET or GATE entrance exam and TANCA counselling. The college has received approval from AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi). The college's different departments include the Department of Applied Science and Technology, the Department of Biotechnology, the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Department of Ceramic Technology, the Department of Textile Technology, and the Department of Leather Technology.
