About Amrita University Kochi
Amrita University or Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, was established in 1994. The oldest campus is located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and was inaugurated with the opening of the Amrita School of Engineering. Since then, the university has been advancing its educational centres in 6 Indian states, with a total of seven campuses and 15 constituent schools spread across the southern states of India. Founded by the world-renowned humanitarian, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, the multi-campus university was established to provide quality education and research in an ambience rooted in Indian cultural heritage. The Kochi campus of Amrita University is renowned for its Centre of Excellence in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, established in 1997. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has an extensive campus being set up at Kochi that comprises a pre-eminent medical institute, the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) along with the School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, College of Nursing, School of Pharmacy & School of Allied Health Sciences and Center for Nanosciences. Amrita University, Kochi has an impressive Central library. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Central Library is a valuable partner in users’ pursuit of excellence in learning and research. Our value lies in the valuable information resources, services and facilities that we provide to all users. The Central library has a carpet area of 81,000 sq feet. The library has been automated by the Libsys software. We have an open access system. We have a wide range of library materials that cater to various learning resources of 58103 books, 377 Periodicals, 3000+ online e-resources like e-journals, e-books, conference proceedings, e-databases and standards, 2650 Project reports, 7086 back-volumes, 4781 CD/DVDs resources and 14 Daily News Papers. The library's principal mission is to assist the University's teaching and research programmes by providing physical and intellectual access to knowledge. In line with the University's goals, the library aspires to establish a comprehensive collection of papers helpful to users.
Digital Library
The Digital Library has centrally air-conditioned and has a capacity of 170 users. Currently, 100 users can access it simultaneously. The Internet Access facility is available in the digital section. The ASE and ASB Library subscribe to the online e-resources/e-databases such as ACM, ASCE, ASME, ASTM, Access Engineering from McGraw-Hill, J-Gate (JET) & (SMS), IEEE Xplore (ASPP), Science Direct-Elsevier , Springer Journals and E-books, DELNET (bibliographic database), EBSCO, Proquest, IBID , Capitaline and SUNNY BUFFALO (State University of New York).
Computing Facilities
The Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) Department is identifies, provides and maintains reliable computing facilities, computing network environment, communication facilities and related infrastructure to facilitate education, research, instructional and Institute approved business services.
The department administers all computer laboratories on the campus. The laboratories extend all facilities required by students to fulfill their requirements for academic purposes. The department staff in these labs also assists students in their academic work. All staff rooms are also equipped with sufficient computers to help faculty to carry out their day-to-day academic requirements and also to help them in their research activities.
At locations where wireless connectivity is essential, Wi-Fi hotspots have been set up to allow users to connect to the campus network over wireless links. Network cabling within a laboratory or a block is designed and implemented using the structured cabling approach. This allows flexibility and scalability for expansions in the future.
Hostels
Separate hostel facilities are provided for girls and boys. Their stay in the hostel enables them to imbibe a holistic lifestyle with activities like yoga, sports and extra-curricular activities. There are eight hostels in the campus which accommodate above 3500 inmates. P.G students and final year U.G students are allotted single rooms. All hostels are equipped with solar water heaters for hot water supply.
Pure vegetarian food prepared under hygienic conditions is served in the student dining halls and the canteens from a central Kitchen. Night cafeteria is attached with all hostels.

Amrita University Kochi Scholarships
Amrita University provides scholarships to students from GATE and NON-GATE candidates. Students who have not appeared for GATE exam are eligible to apply for Merit or Endowment scholarships available different programs. As per the norms of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), all the GATE qualified candidates receive a Post Graduate Scholarship of Rs. 12,400/- per month.
Endowment Scholarships for Non-GATE Students
- The top 40% of eligible students in “each” program will receive scholarships. The scholarship amounts range up to Rs 1 Lakhs. Students have greatly benefitted from such scholarships and eased their way into education.
- Eligible Programs include Materials Science and Engineering, Power Electronics and Drives etc.
Endowment Scholarships for GATE Students
- The top 30% of eligible students in “each” program will receive scholarships. The scholarship amounts range up to Rs 1 Lakh. This also includes International semester abroad and Collaborations.

Eligibility Criteria for Amrita University, Kochi Scholarships
Candidates who have appeared for AEEE and other rank holders can apply for scholarships at AVV. All the M. Tech. Programs of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham are approved by AICTE for GATE scholarships. Amrita University, Kochi scholarships are offered to students according to their marks and admission interview performance.
The opportunity is open to students from the OBC, SC, ST, and Minority categories. The award is open to applicants whose family's annual income is modest and who require financial aid to continue their studies. Candidates must have received a minimum of qualifying grades in previous classes.
Now, the scholarships are divided into two sections-
- Amrita Chancellor Scholarship: this is a 100% fee waiver scholarship for which the eligibility is a score of 75% and/or more in Grade 12, UG, and PG.
- Amrita Meritorious Scholarship: this is a 40% fee waiver scholarship for which the eligibility is a score of 60% to 74% in Grade 12 and UG.
