The Assam down town University is organising a Global Edu Fair Season 1 from November 28 to 29, 2023. During this event, university representatives from countries like Australia, Canada, the UK, Dubai, Singapore, South America, the USA, France, and Switzerland will offer free academic profile assessments for students. The universities which will participate in this event by AdtU are GBS Dubai, SPJ Global, Schiller International University, RMIT University, and others.

Assam down town University announced the successful conclusion of HR CONCLAVE 3.0. The conclave was the third edition of this prestigious national-level event in North-East India. It was held on November 4, 2023. This one-of-a-kind HR conclave by AdtU brought together industry experts, thought leaders, and HR professionals for a day of insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking. At the event, participants from various domains and industries gathered to delve into the dynamic world of human resources and talent management.
The venue of the conclave conducted by AdtU was Taj Vivanta, Guwahati, Assam. The event featured engaging panel discussions, informative keynote speeches, and a well-deserved HR Award Ceremony, making it a truly enriching experience for all attendees. Some of the esteemed speakers who participated in the panel discussions include Hemant Kumar Ravi (KANTAR), Rituraj Sar (Lupin Limited), Kasturi Kalita (Assam Cancer Care Foundation, TATA TRUST), and Pooja Makasana (Sun Pharma), and others.
Assam down town University recently hosted the inauguration ceremony of its Library cum Activity Centreat the Panikhaiti campus. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, the Honorable Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India,who unveiled the Library cum Activity Centre. This Library cum Activity Centre at AdtU is a four-story, 40000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility, housing an auditorium with a 500-seat capacity, multiple seminar halls for parallel sessions, an advanced AV production studio, a modern cafeteria, a multi-story library, an art gallery, a yoga hall, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and an indoor stadium with multi-sport facilities.
In addition, AdtU conferred an honorary Doctorate, PhD D.Litt (Honoris Causa), to the Honorable Union Minister, recognising his exceptional contributions to the field of road transport and highways. Several other recognitions to distinguished individuals were also presented at this event, such as Outstanding Researcher 2022-23 to Dr. Saikat Sen, Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science; Best Performer PG Student to Ms. Aniya Teli from the M. Pharm Programme; and Best Performer UG Student to Mr. Samujjal Talukdar from the BCA Programme.
Assam down town University, popularly known as AdtU, has recently celebrated its 14th Foundation Day with a host of memorable activities and events. The foundation day celebration was marked by inspiring speeches and mesmerising performances by the guests, teachers, students, and other stakeholders at the university. As a result, the day became an exhibition of the journey of Assam down town University towards excellence and commitment to shaping bright futures.
The celebration began with the unfurling of the national flag by the Hon'ble Dean of Studies at AdtU Dr. Bandana Dutta, Chief Guest Hon'ble MP Queen Oja, and Prof. (Dr.) Niranjan Chakraborty, FNA, FNASc, FNAAS, Professor of Eminence, National Institute of Plant Genome Research. The Chairperson of the organizing committee, T V V L N Rao, PhD (IITD), Professor & Dean, Faculty of Engineering further delivered a welcoming speech and provided an overview of ADTU's journey so far. In addition, there was also an award-giving ceremony for excellent accomplishments in the community as part of the event. The ending of the celebration was marked by a patriotic note with the singing of the 'Jatiyo Sangeet' of Assam.
The graduates of Assam down town University were felicitated by His Excellency Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam; Dr Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Education, Welfare of Plain Tribe and Backward Classes, Govt. of Assam on the 9th convocation day. The occasion was also graced by Dr Shekhar C. Mande, Former Director General CSIR, New Delhi, faculty members, students and their parents/guardians.
The event started with the National Anthem and an invocation song. The Registrar invited The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Ranoj Pegu to address the gathering. Sri Pegu acknowledged the role of AdtU University in its contribution to the education sector and ensuring quality education to its students along with good placement opportunities. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N.C. Talukdar presented the university report after the speech of the Education Minister which was followed by the conferment of D. Litt (Honoris Causa) to Sri Chiranjit Chaliha, Prominent Industrialist, Sri Dinesh Shahra, Eminent Entrepreneur & Industrialist, and Prof. CA (Dr) M.S. Jadav, Noted Chartered Accountant.
Degrees were awarded to a total of 1300 students and scholars, out of which 1063 were undergraduates, 299 were postgraduates, and 12 were PhD students. The programme also witnessed the conferment of gold medals to the best graduate - Lunasmrita Saikia, and postgraduate - Shiny Ahmed. The appreciation award for the best placement recipient went to Shatakshi Chakraborty, and the AdtU Alumni Award for Inspiring Achievement was received by Farzana Afreen. After the felicitation, Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Former Director General, CSIR, delivered the Convocation Address.
Thereafter, the Chancellor of AdtU University requested His Excellency, the Governor of Assam to address the convocation. Honourable Governor of Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi congratulated the graduating batch of 2022 and extended his greetings to the proud parents as well. He appreciated the university’s contribution to churning out intellectual minds and creating the much-needed quality in human resources in various fields.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of the Convocation Book by the Honourable Governor of Assam and the National Anthem. The programme was hosted by the Masters of Ceremonies, Mr. Bhriganka Bharadwaj and Dr. Sagarika Mahanta.

Students with the best performance will be awarded, Gold Medal. The student with the best placement will be awarded the Appreciation award and an achievement award will be given to the AdtU Alumni. The AdtU Award of Excellence in School Teaching shall also be awarded to a selected student by the honourable Chancellor on this occasion.
Assam down town University celebrated its 8th convocation ceremony on September 15. The event was conducted virtually due to COVID-19. This year, a total of 944 students and research scholars were awarded degrees, out of which 724 are graduates, 213 postgraduates, and 7 Ph.D., candidates. The university also conferred honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) Sri Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Assam Chief Minister, a renowned social activist, and entrepreneur.
Jyotismita Sarma (BSc Microbiology) and Jutima Baruah (MSc Microbiology) received the gold medals for the best graduate and the best postgraduate students of 2021 respectively. An award of appreciation for the Best Placemen Achiever was given to Debapriya Paul (MBA).
The ceremony began with the procession of the dignitaries of the university with the anthem playing in the background. The Governor of Assam, Sri Jagdish Mukhi was felicitated as the Chief Guest at the ceremony. It was followed by a welcome address, delivered by the Assam Chancellor, Dr. NN Dutta. Prof. Bandana Dutta, Dean of Studies presented the Ph.D. degrees to the seven research scholars. The Deans of the various Faculty of Study presented the names of the candidates who qualified for the Bachelors and Masters degrees from their respective undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. After the award ceremony, the Chancellor invited the Chief Guest to deliver his address, and this was followed by the signing of the convocation book.

Assam down town University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Jaceex Ventures LLP on 22nd February 2021.Jaceex is engaged in the business of developing Manpower Skilled in Technical and Other Skills along with Japanese Language Skills. As a part of the MoU, a Jaceex study centre will be established on the campus for students to learn the Japanese language.
The MoU will also enable the students to take up the opportunities in Japan as well as organisations in India requiring Japanese language proficiency. The pact was signed by Dr Narayan Chandra Talukdar, Vice-Chancellor of AdtU, and Mr. Rajeev Gupta, Founder CEO, Jaceex Ventures LLP in the presence of Mr. Ashim Barman, Additional Register, Administration, and Mr. Nitul Jyoti Das, Dy Register, Academics of the university.
Assam down town University has been felicitated by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Assam and National Health Mission, Assam for our significant contribution in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic. Mr. Nitul Jyoti Das, Deputy Registrar Academics, AdtU received the award from the honorable Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of Sjt. Pijush Hazarika, Honourable Minister of State, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Assam.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Assam Down University and North Eastern Teas Association (NETA) on 5th February 2021 for research and academic collaboration. The MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor, Assam down town University N.C. Talukdar and Chairman for NETA, Sunil Jallan. The signing ceremony was started with an address from N.C. Talukdar talked about future programs, research activities, the scope of collaboration and outreach with NETA.
Mr. Sunil Jallan gave a brief presentation about the NETA and its objective. He urged the young researchers of the university to think radically and creatively and to come up with innovative ideas that can be submitted in the form of a project to extramural funding agencies.
The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Faculty of Commerce & Management, Assam down town University held a “Cake Mixing Ceremony” on 19th December 2020.
Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.C. Talukdar inaugurated the event. Many eminent personalities such as Dean of Studies Prof. Bandana Dutta, Academic Chairperson Prof. S. Goswami, and Trustee Members were a part of the Cake Mixing Ceremony.
Supporting the budding chefs of the university, all dignitaries, faculty members, and students participated in the event to make the delicious Christmas cake. An interesting array of fruits including raisins, glazed red cherries orange peel, tutti-frutti, dried apricots prunes and walnuts, cashew, almond flakes, and pistachio, besides spices such as ground cardamom, cinnamon and cloves were all added into the cake mixture.
Even during the event, the university ensured that all COVID-19 protocols were followed by the hosts and ensured that the participants use gloves, face shields, and sanitisers during the cake mixing ceremony.
Assam down town University has opened a Centre of Excellence in Nanotechnology (CoEN). The opening of the Coen was a part of the event Technogracias, organised by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The inauguration of the Centre of Excellence in Nanotechnology was done by Dr. Arup Kumar Misra, Director of Assam Science Technology and Environment Council. The event was attended by many other eminent personalities of the university including Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. C. Talukdar, Prof. Sunandan Baruah, Dean of Engineering and Technology who is also the founder of the COEN.
He informed that Coen will also conduct workshops and training programs in the field of Nanotechnology. The Centre of Excellence will also put in efforts to incubate startups with low-cost Nanotechnology-based products. The Coen will operate on a unique concept which Prof. Baruah described as POMEGRANATE or Poor Men’s Green Nanotechnology.
