Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ) Mumbai was established under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce & Industries in 2003. It was an initiative of GJEPC. They have the main training facility at Andheri in a fully air-conditioned four-storied building, built over 14000 sq. ft.
IIGJ Mumbai ensures quality and dedication to the academic and practical needs of its students. They also teach students to improve their creative and intellectual skills. IIGJ Mumbai campus & infrastructure is really good, with all the necessary modern facilities which ensure an appropriate campus life and provides great support for the student’s academic pursuits.
Manufacturing Workshop, Refining: It has a full-fledged 80 Jewellery Manufacturing stations, well-equipped with modern machinery and tools required for training in Jewellery Manufacturing. These include casting machines, both automatic semi-automatic with centrifugal and other machinery like laser welding machines, wet grinders, graver max, microscopes, finishing equipment, bench polishers, magnetic polishers, steam jet cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners and sandblasting equipment. The students get hands-on experience.
CAD Lab : The CAD Lab is equipped with advanced Jewellery design software like Rhino, Matrix and Photoshop In-design. 2 CAD Labs with an overall capacity of 75 work stations along with audio-visual facilities are also provided.
Design Studio : They have an overall capacity of 130 students and are naturally lit. The room is fitted with video for display. There are 4 design studios for jewellery designing training. Facilities include furniture art equipment best suited for design, workbenches, small machines, computer equipment, paint shops and large presentation boards and screens. Seminars and other activities are also arranged here.
Classroom : They have 10 classrooms to conduct certificate & degree courses. Design and Gemmology classes have video facilities for the purpose of design and diamond analysis. Diamond classes have microscopes. All the classrooms are naturally lit.
Auditorium : They have a well equipped auditorium with the latest audio-visual facilities. The auditorium has 63 seating arrangements which can be increased to 80 by putting extra chairs. It has a video and sound system which can be adjusted as per requirement. It also has a sliding screen for presentations.
Library : The Central Library of IIGJ Mumbai is huge and has all the necessary books and reference materials. They lend books, journals, periodicals, magazines, etc. to students.
IIGJ Mumbai alumni network is very strong. The institute has completed 16 years of educational training with more than 5000 students having qualified from various courses. They have placed their students in good companies. Their training starts from the very first day of the classes at IIGJ Mumbai.
