About IIT Patna
IIT Patna has been ranked 801–1000 in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking 2023. IIT Patna NIRF Ranking 2023 has been released. IIT Patna has ranked 41st in the engineering category and 66th in the overall category by NIRF India Rankings 2023. The Government of India recognised IIT Patna as an institute of national importance. IIT Patna courses are offered under ten academic departments. Students can pursue B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and PhD programmes. The institute offers numerous placement opportunities to its students. As per the official information released about IIT Patna placement 2023, 61 students of batch 2023 have received pre-placement offers (PPOs) from 22 companies. The highest package offered till now is Rs 82.05 LPA, and the average package offered is Rs 28.50 LPA.
Indian Institute of Technology Patna, or IIT Patna, came into existence in 2008. It is one of the new IITs established by an Act of the Indian Parliament. IIT Patna has 10 departments which include Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Chemical, and Biochemical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Humanities & Social Science Department.

IIT Patna Eligibility Criteria for 2024
BS/ B.Tech.: The interested students are required to secure a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ ST/ Backward classes) in their 10+2 or equivalent examinations. The examinations must be completed by a recognized University/ Board. The students are also required to secure qualifying marks at JEE Mains/ JEE Advanced to be eligible for securing admission in B.Tech. Course.
M.Tech.: The interested students are required to secure a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ ST/ Backward classes) in their graduation in B.Tech course or equivalent examinations. The examinations must be completed by a recognized University/ Board. The students are also required to secure qualifying marks at GATE to be eligible for securing admission in B.Tech. course.
M.Sc.: The interested students are required to secure a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ ST/ Backward classes) in their graduation or equivalent examinations. The examinations must be completed by a recognized University/ Board. The students are also required to secure qualifying marks at JAM (Joint Admission test for Masters) to be eligible for obtaining admission in B.Tech. Course.
Ph.D.: Admission to the course is granted on the basis of an interview or written test held tentatively in the month of December and May- July every year.
For B.Tech Admissions
Selection criteria: Valid scores in JEE Main and JEE Advanced Entrance Exam followed by JoSAA counseling.
Eligibility criteria: Students must have a senior secondary pass certificate with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) from a recognized university with physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects.
For M.Tech. Admissions
Selection criteria: Valid score on the GATE entrance exam
Eligibility criteria: Must have completed a Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering field with at least 8.5/ 6.25 for General and SC/ST respectively (For IITs Graduates) and a minimum 60% aggregate if candidates are graduated from non-IITs.
For MSc Admissions
Selection Criteria: The IIT JAM entrance examination scores are used to select candidates for the MSc program. Previous academic records are taken into account while determining the final merit list.
Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) to be eligible for admission to the IIT Patna M.Sc. program.
For Ph.D. Admissions
Selection criteria: The entrance exams considered for Ph.D. admission at IIT Patna are UGC/ CSIR NET (JRF) examination, SET, GATE (with a valid score), or Teacher Research Fellowship, followed by IIT Patna Ph.D. Interview.
Eligibility criteria: Candidates must have received at least 7 CGPA in the required disciplines (without rounding off) in their master's degree from universities/ institutions accredited by the UGC / AICTE / NCTE to be considered for this program.

The IIT Patna cut off 2024 for round 1 has been released by JoSAA. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the programme-wise cutoff for the All India quota, open seat type, and gender. The IIT Patna B.Tech cut-off 2024 will be declared in multiple rounds of counselling as per the availability of seats. The cutoff is based on ranks secured by students in JEE Advanced 2024. As per the cutoff, the closing rank for the open category is 2985 and the OBC category is 55. Moreover, IIT Patna cutoff for JEE Advanced 2024 for SC and ST categories is 1595 and 805.

The Indian Institute of Technology Patna is spread over 501 acres of land. The campus is located in the city of Bihta, which is approximately 35 km from the main town of Patna. The campus houses four academic complexes:

- IIT Patna has a fully equipped Central Library with the modern technology of automation and a self-check-in and check-out system. The library of IIT Patna also provides E-books and is open all days of the week.
- IIT Patna has separate hostels for boys and girls on the campus itself. The hostels also have necessary arrangements for married research scholars. In addition, the hostels are well equipped with medical emergencies and amenities.

The cell offers Service Books and Health Books in Hindi print. Hindi Diwas is organized by the same on 14 September every year and competitions for Hindi knowledge are also organized annually.
- Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell at IIT Patna is established to bring a transformation to rural development. It works with the vision to create a virtuous cycle between society and an inclusive academic system by offering knowledge and practices for emerging professions.
IIT Patna Facilities
- IIT Patna has laboratories for all the disciplines for the courses at the College. The students are allowed to conduct their own examinations and experiments with the guidance of the faculty members.
- IIT Patna has separate hostel facilities available for girls and boys, and the hostels are situated on the campus of IIT Patna. Currently, there are over 1200 students residing in these hostels. Regular bus services are provided to the hostellers for to and fro movement from their hostels to the academic buildings.
- The College also has a spacious and hygienic mess for all the students ensuring a well-balanced diet, especially for hostellers.
- The entire campus is surveilled through CCTV cameras and security guards 24*7. Medical facilities and any medical help are also available at all times of the day.
- Health care facilities at IIT Patna are well planned and executed. It is 24*7 functional primary health care facilities with resident doctors, a pharmacist, and an assistant available day and night. An ambulance for an emergency is also available in the center 24*7.

IIT Patna Scholarships
Merit cum Means Scholarships at IIT Patna are offered to the students on a merit basis. Students are required to fill in the application forms available on the University'suniversity official website and on the basis of which results are announced for the qualifying students.
The scholarship grant for the selected students are as follows:
- For General & OBC students-
- Tuition fees are waived
- Allowance of INR 1000/- per month for two semesters ( 8 months in a year )
- For SC & ST Students-
- Fees for the Basic menu at the mess will be waived off
- Payments to the Hostel will be waived off
- Allowance of INR 250/- per month for two semesters ( 8 months in a year )
Eligibility criteria:
Merit basis-
- First-year students: On the basis of the Semester Performance Index ( SPI) and in case of a tie, AIR in JEE Advanced / JAM will be considered. The minimum SPI shall be 6.5, and the student is required to clear all their subjects in the first semester.
- Second-year onwards: The minimum SPI shall be 6.5, and the student is required to clear all their subjects in the first semester.
Means basis-
- The annual income of a student's parents/ guardians from all means and sources in the preceding financial year shall not exceed INR 4.5 lakhs.

HOSCA, or House of Socio-Cultural Affairs, strives to promote a vibrant and eclectic campus experience through organizing innumerable cultural activities and events.

If you are not allotted any seat in the first round of JoSAA then you have to wait for the second round of seat allotment. JoSAA will release the seat allotment result in 6 rounds for IIT Patna and other institutes based on seat availability. You do not need to reapply or submit a different application form for the second round of counselling. Your application is still valid for all subsequent rounds of counselling once you have applied for JoSAA. Keep checking the results for all the rounds of allotment till you get a seat.
