The admission policy of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute is decided in the year of November/December by the academic council before the start of each academic year. Depending on the faculty and other facilities, there may be no admission into some courses for the particular academic year. The application for PhD courses is invited in March around the first/second week, and the last date of application submission will be in April. The date will be intimated in advance.

The IARI Delhi Scholarship will be provided to deserving candidates based on merit. Students receiving this scholarship are not eligible for other scholarships without the consultation of the Dean. The scholarship is offered to PG and PhD students admitted under General Open Competition Scheme. The candidate will receive the scholarship initially based on their previous academic record but to continue it they have to make a diligent effort during the course. The duration of the scholarship for M.Sc./M.Tech. program is 2 years whereas for PhD it is 3 years.
The scholarship will be awarded initially for the particular academic year. It will be renewed in the next academic year for only candidates who maintain the required grade points. The scholarship amount for PG students will be Rs 7560 and for PhD, it is Rs 13,125 monthly. It includes all fees and other charges of the institute. In addition, a grant of Rs 6000 for M.Sc students and Rs 10,000 for PhD students will be paid per year for expenses of books, Thesis, Study tours, experimental materials, etc.
The student welfare fund provided by the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute Delhiacts as a relief during the financial crisis. These are some of its objectives. Students and other contributions are the sources of funds. The loan will be available without any interest.
The corporation is providing loan facilities to the eligible candidates from SC/ST/OBC/Minorities/Handicapped below the poverty line living in NCT of Delhi.
