Overall: Overall the college is good. It is the second best college of the Govt. aided Engineering Colleges in Assam. Civil, Mechanical, Computer Software, Instrumentation, & Electrical Engineering branches are available in the College.
Placement: The placement facilities are on average good in the College. Oil India directly recruits the topper student every year. Most of the job offering companies lies under private sector.
Infrastructure: The College is located on a remote area about 4kms away from Jorhat town. College has good hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The College has well equipped laboratories and technicians.
Faculty: The College has all required faculty members for every branch. Regular classes are carried out by the College faculties. The faculties of the civil branch especially are sincere towards their duty.
Hostel: Hostels buildings are a little old especially the boys hostels. The food is average in the hostels and the mess dues are very pocket friendly. The anti-ragging policy is strictly followed in all the hostels.
Overall: Jorhat Engineering College, popularly known as JEC is the second oldest engineering college in Assam as well as North East. This college has been playing a very crucial role in producing valuable assets every year since its establishment. As a student of JEC, I must say that it has a very good environment to study and learn.. The college campus can be said to be average but the learning is top notch. It is quite peaceful inside the campus. JEC organises a Tech fest called PHOENIX every year which attracts a lot of crowd and companies and start ups all over the north eastern region of India. This college has been located in a very good location quite close to the town of Jorhat.
Placement: There is a Training and Placement Cell in the college. Every year it brings a lot of companies like Vedanta, Oil India Limited, NRL, and many more. It gives opportunity to the qualified student to sit for an interview and take a good package. Placement record of JEC is quite good compared to other engineering colleges. Students gets placed OIL, NRL, IGGL, Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, LG, Vedanta, INOX, and many more companies. Yeah we have a Training and Placement cell in the Jorhat Engineering College. It is managed by our respected Head of the department of Computer Science and Engineering department. Before getting admission in the college I saw lots of news of the students getting placements from the cell and now when I am here in the college I watch them happen with my eyes. This year also lots of our seniors got placed through the On-campus interviews. And I hope that we will also get placed the same way. There come a lot of companies and they filter the best students suitable for their jobs.
Infrastructure: Talking about the infrastructure, I must agree that it has good infrastructure but not up to the mark. There are so many things to be developed. However there is a new auditorium and new central library with better facilities and a new indoor stadium with more game options is being constructed which will be inaugurated within upcoming 2 months. The classrooms are good with the required facilities. The buildings are good. Parks need to be maintained a lot more. JEC has a lot of potential to develop and hope in near future it will. It has beautiful buildings which needs to be maintained a lot . The college has a nice infrastructure. It contains two main buildings for classes and those are really huge. It contains a central library and a good environment to study. There is park also for relaxation. I must say the overall infrastructure of JEC is far better than the other private or government institutions in Assam.
Faculty: There are 5 branches in Jorhat Engineering College which are - Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and last but not the least Instrumentation Engineering. All the branches are quite good in terms of quality education. The faculty members are quite supportive and always ready to help in studies and internships. Students get internship at Oil, ONGC, NRL, Vedanta, Hindustan Unilever, and many other industries because of the guidance of these amazing faculties. Faculty is the best part of this college. Their teaching style, their ego, their attachment with students all are a lot different from what we have experienced in the 11-12tha standards. All the faculties are mostly NIT or IIT graduate and most suitable to teach. Their teaching environment is really something else. As I am studying in this college, from my experience with the faculty I can definitely say that there is no need for YouTube help if we study properly from the faculty.
Hostel: Yes of course. This college has a total of 10 hostels and also includes guest house for the parents to stay if they come to visit their child. I am staying at the hostel and I have to say hostel life is the best. We get lots of experience by staying with batch mates, juniors and seniors and all are skilled at their own fields. The facilities and infrastructure are really good. I have no complaints staying at the hostel. The Hostel of Jorhat Engineering College is pretty good. There are currently 10 running hostels. 8 boys’ hostels and 2 girl’s hostels. 2 new hostels are being made which will be completed by this year I think. The hostel life is very good and is something I recommend. Hostel gives us a lot of experience which will be helpful in future. Each members of the hostel have different role, everyone must work from juniors to senior for the hostel to run smoothly as there is no warden in the hostel. Although there is a hostel superintendent but he doesn't stay in the hostel.
