Yes, you can certainly pursue Electrical Engineering (EE) at a prominent private university in India with a GATE score of 365. While GATE scores are typically used for M.Tech admissions, many institutions recognize strong GATE performance as an indicator of academic caliber. This can be beneficial for B.Tech admissions, potentially granting you direct entry or a significant scholarship, even if it's not the primary admission route. Many leading private universities, including Lovely Professional University (LPU), offer robust Electrical Engineering programs, often focusing on practical, industry-aligned curricula. These programs emphasize hands-on learning through well-equipped labs covering areas like power systems, control systems, power electronics, and electrical machines. LPU, for instance, is known for its strong industry connections, providing valuable internship opportunities and leading to good placements in core engineering, IT, and diverse sectors like power generation, renewable energy, and automation. A GATE score of 365 demonstrates a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, which will be an asset as you pursue your B.Tech at a university like LPU.

With a GATE score of 534 and AIR 2362 (General), securing Microelectronics at BITS may be challenging due to high competition. However, Lovely Professional University (LPU) offers a strong M.Tech program in VLSI/Microelectronics that's worth considering. LPU provides modern laboratories, experienced faculty, and a curriculum aligned with industry standards. The university accepts GATE scores for admission and also conducts its own entrance exam for added flexibility. Students benefit from hands-on training, industry projects, and placement opportunities with reputed companies. With a focus on skill development and practical exposure, LPU’s M.Tech in VLSI is a solid alternative for aspiring microelectronics professionals.

Dear student,

With your score of 10720 in NIMCET, it seems difficult for you to get admission in any of the NITs. The top NITs like Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad usually close admissions for the General category within the top 50-300 ranks. Even for reserved categories, the ranks typically do not extend into five digits.

For other participating NITs like Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Patna, Raipur, Agartala generally remain within the top 1000-2000 for the General/OBC-NCL categories. For SC/ST categories, some may go up to 4000-8000, but 10720 is still a very difficult rank to get into any of the participating NITs.

Unfortunately, with an All India Rank of 10720, your chances of getting admission into any of the NIMCET participating NITs (National Institutes of Technology) is highly unlikely for the MCA programme. Based on previous years' cut-off trends, it will be difficulut for you to get a seat even if you belong to the reserved categories basis last year's trend. The competition is extremely high for these limited seats (around 800-1000 seats across all NITs).

You can try for other universities like AKTU, GGSIPU, HBTU, UoH and state government aided universities. You might need to appear for state exams like MAH MCA CET for Maharashtra, OJEE for Odisha, PGCET for Karnataka, etc. for admission to state universities.

With an an OBC rank of 803 in the NIMCET 2025 exam, you have a good chance of getting admission into several NITs such as NIT Raipur, NIT Krukshetra and NIT Jamshedpur.
